My camera is fine and I transfer photos to my desk op . Now I also have a laptop which I want to transfer photos on to but can't find soft ware to do so.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy selected pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

CAN'T TRANSFER PHOTOS FROM CAMERA TO COMPUTER.

The easiest way to transfer the pictures onto your computer is to remove the memory card and plug it into a card reader (either built in or a USB card reader if you have one). If not, you can connect your camera to your computer by the USB cable.

Once you plug the camera or the card in, Windows will usually ask you if you want to import the images. You can do that or import them manually by opening up the SD card or camera in my computer and dragging the files to the folder you want to store them in.

If you're more comfortable using the bundled software and you need another copy, you can download it here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a75#DriversAndSoftware Just select your OS and the software you want.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

Canon Vixia HF 20 how do you get the files onto the mac

This camera stores the video using a unique method, and does not allow you to simply drag and drop the video files - you also can not easily find the camera and play the video real time to transfer it ...
You need a compatible software program, meaning the software needs to be compatible with the camera ... there are many available ... but if you are looking to buy software check to see if it is compatible with your camera before purchasing ... I wonder, what software will you be using to edit the video?
For example, you can use Final Cut Express. It will find the camera as long as the camera is connected via USB and there is power applied to the camera ... once connected, look at the camera LCD screen and select "Computer" for the connection ... then, in Final Cut Express, select Log and Transfer (File menu), and you will get a new window. You camera should be recognized and you can select the video takes that you want to transfer and then hit "add selection to queue" and the transfer will begin.
You will first want to check in Final Cut Express where the transfers will end up on the computer, and pick a suitable location with plenty of hard drive space (Final Cut Express menu / System Settings / Scratch Disks) so you can find them if you want to at some point in the future.

Assuming you will be editing in Final Cut Express, you won't actually need to find them, but its important to select a scratch disk location that has plenty of hard drive space, and if you want to copy one of the clips to use it directly to just upload to YouTube or something like that, you'll know where they are (they will be .mov files, and can play all by themselves using Quicktime or any similar program)

As always, refer to the manual if you run into any problems ...
Hope this helps!

I had the wrong card in (8MB) so all my pics & video are saved internally and I want to transfer to the 4MB card I just bought.

The best thing to do is getting a data cable, and installing the phone software on a computer. Then you connect the phone to PC and transfer the data on phone memory onto the card.

Using the phone to do the job with copy and paste on the single files will also work, but it will take ages.

Note: if you connect phone to computer without installing software first , you will access only Memory card (as external storage), and not Phone Memory.

In order to do what you are asking you will need some video editing software. Usually you will get something with the camcorder. It would have been on a CD.

Alternatively, you can buy video editing software.

Ulead has some nice software that does MPEG-2 video.

I think VirtualDUB will handle MPEG-2 with a plugin and it is free (GPL).

Any brand of USB drive should work. There is a package deal on 3 2gb memory sticks at newegg.com
