Question about Digital Cameras

We have a canon digital ixus 60 camera, I dropped it on the pavement and ever since, it takes photos that appear over exposed (very white) yet the video works perfectly still.

There are 2 possibilities,
If you know how to open and fit camera, then open it, remove and reinsert flexible ribbon wires (mostly 2) in main board.
If problem still exist, most likely aperture in Lens Mechanism is misaligned / stuck and Complete Lens Assembly need to be replaced. This would cost you much.
Good Luck.

How are your settings? Try to restore them to defaults see how it looks, the pictures could possibly be corrected on a computer but it debends whatkind of results you are getting. lets start with the settings and if you could send us a sample picture. You can add a picture on this page, you just first need to make it small enought, or upload on some free photohosting service / email it to me at

Canon ixus 65 - when taking a shot without the flash on, a red camera icon appears on screen and the shot is usually blurry. Why?

When hand-held shooting, shaking will cause blurry. So when the shutter speed below 1 / 60 second the vibration warning will appear, open the flash, up shutter speeds, vibration warning disappeared.

Canon Ixus 95. When taking pictures of people with dark clothes, the face and background (a stone wall in this case) become white and undefined. Is there a solution?

Sounds like your camera is exposing for the dark clothes and over-exposing the face. You could set the "exposure compensation" down a notch or two in this case for a better exposure.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Computer does not detect Canon Ixus 60

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Canon UXUS i pc 1060 pictures bleached white

Hi,

I've got the same problem.

Happened just two months ago. I was outside taking pictures by a campfire, so I wonder if the smoke had something to do with it.

Movie mode is fine, but regular photos are either all white or with strange horizontal lines, not clear at all.

I'm going to open it up and reseat all the connections.

Anything else to try?

Anyone else have this problem or know what to do?

Red/White Lines On Photos and LCD

HI,

The scren is just displaying the input from the CCD (Digital Sensor that actually takes the picture).. If The pictures were fine, but the screen was funky if you could live with it then there wouldn't be a problem.

Since it's on both the screen AND on your photos it points to there being a fault with the CCD

Given the age of the camera, the cost of a repair I'm afraid it's time for a new camera. there's nothing you can do to fix this yourself.

Sorry for being the bearer of bad tidings.

If my advice was at least helpful please vote for me!
