Question about Mitsubishi VS-50605 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

VS-50605 (mitsubishi) You can hear a highvoltage chirp (clicking sound)over and over and over and over.. you can see the crt tubes flicker. Like its trying to turn on... May be the sound of relays firing... Any suggestions on what components to try changing? I metered out the 2 Horizontal transistors and they seem to be ok. I think I'm going to try to change out the Vertical IC.. and go from there. Any and all help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated Meltrex

Yes sir change IC 401 and dont forget to change C 920 also. This is a very common problem with this set. If you do not change the capacitor, the IC will fail again in a few weeks or days. PS Dont forget to rate this.

Good Day, rob;
More than likely you have CRT coolant (fuild) on the board(s). Check this by removing the TV's speaker grill, the small panel and look for the fluid using a bright light. It's not always easy to see, if fluid is found remove it with acetone and use heavy plastic and drape loosely over the board in the front. Always remove POWER from TV BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY SERVICE. Good Luck, big IRISH.

if it has been four years since the set has worked you are going to ned all three CRT's I'm afraid, the tubes will go soft just from sitting and not being used. also I bet there are a ton of bad capacitors in this Tv set now also.
