Size of the excel file increased from 721 KB to 50MB

Many businesses use Excel to track their data and expenses.
However, you can run into problems when files grow too big.
Try reducing the size of your Excel files in different ways to eliminate your storage problems.
Remove unnecessary graphics and fonts from the Excel file.
Simple report data doesn't need a lot of excess formatting to make it attractive.
If you need to keep different fonts in your file, reduce some of the font sizes you originally used.
Reduce the number of pivot tables you allow in your data analysis.
Run your pivot table wizard when dealing with involved calculations.
When given options to format the file, choose those that allow the data to refresh instead of adding a new table.
Input your data, close the file and save as an Excel (XLS format) file and as an HTML (XML format) file.
To do this, choose "XML Data" in the "Save as type" drop down box.
Change the name of your document as well, so you can tell the difference between the two files.
Open the XML file and save it back into the regular XLS file to create a smaller file than the original.
Again, rename this file, as well as changing its type. This act removes odd programming left from past calculations since the last "save."
Check into file compression software such as OzGrid.
These products exist because you cannot open a file once it gets too big.
Compress the XLS data by compelling the program to recalculate the cells used for your file.

Microsoft Excel files can contain thousands of cells filled with data.
When you combine this information with graphics, such as charts and graphs, as well as ever-expanding links to other worksheets, you can end up with an enormous file that takes up precious system space and slows Excel down.
While there are many software programs available that promise to shrink Excel files, there are many ways to reduce the bulk without downloading a new application.

1. Click on any cell in the Excel file you want to reduce.
Open the "Go To" dialog box in Excel 2007 by clicking the "Find" drop-down arrow on the Home tab of the ribbon and selecting "Go To."
In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "Edit" menu and select "Go To."
You can also use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+G" in any version of Excel.
2. Click the "Special" button on the "Go To" dialog box.
Select "Blanks" and click "OK." Click the "Clear" drop-down in the "Editing" group in Excel 2007 and select "Clear All."
In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "Edit" menu, point to "Clear" and select "All." This will clear any blank cells to help reduce the file size.

3. Go to the very last cell containing data in the Excel file.
Select the entire row beneath this cell by clicking the number to the left of it.
Hold "Ctrl+Shift" and then press the down arrow key to select all of the cells beneath this point.

4. Click the "Clear" drop-down in the "Editing" group in Excel 2007 and select "Clear All."
In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "Edit" menu, point to "Clear" and select "All."
Select the column to the right of the last cell. Hold "Ctrl+Shift" and then press the right arrow key. Again, select "Clear All."
5. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for any other Excel files that are linked to the workbook you are trying to reduce.
Save the files and then check the new file size by clicking the "Office Button" in Excel 2007.
Point to "Prepare" and then click on "Properties." In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "File" menu and select "Properties."
The file size will be listed on the "General" tab.

When transferring mp3 files from PC to ipod nano 6th gen using 128k compression there are random scratching noises produced on playback. What is wrong?

Hi, did you use a converter to reduce the size to 128kb, or you use a media player?Sometimes if you use a media player,it might not reduce the size properly.

And also some mp3 players sound better with a bigger size of kilobyte.

You can use a converter to reduce the size of the music you want to play on your nano ipod. You will have to check each kilobytes and know which will play on your player properly.

You can download the converter from the below link:

Hope it helped...

I have a Sony DCR-SR43 handycam. I am a amateur photographer. When i shoot some shots, the file size is very large (208 or so..). Is there any software to compress the file.

The size of the file depends mostly on the resolution. Higher resolution gives more detail and the picture can be printed larger without showing pixelation, but this requires more data, so the files are larger. Recent cameras offer resolutions stated in terms of 10 or 14 megapixels. That much data needs a large file to store it. Reducing the resolution in the camera settings to 5 or 3 megapixels (or less) will give you a much smaller file. In the camera, this will usually be specified in terms of pixels wide by pixels deep (e.g. 1600x1200).

You can reduce the size of a picture in a photo editing program (resize or resample), which will also reduce the resolution.

Compressing the file is not likely to help much. Usually these files are in a format (.jpg) that is already compressed. The camera may allow more than one quality of compression. You can set this to compress the pics more, but this will reduce the quality of the image and introduce more digital noise. It is also possible to increase the amount of compression when saving an edited file in a photo editor, by specifying this at the point of saving. None of these will make as large a difference as reducing the resolution by resizing.

Cause 1 A number of large applications are installed on the BlackBerry smartphone. Resolution To resolve this issue, complete the following steps: Make sure that the BlackBerry® Device Software is installed on the computer to display the correct total application space. Determine the application space that is available on the BlackBerry smartphone by completing the following steps: Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer. Open the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager. Double-click Application Loader. At the Device Application Selection screen, under the application selection window, note the total application space. Note: Select the List additional applications that are installed on the connected device check box to include the applications that are installed outside of the BlackBerry Device Software applications and the file sizes. Remove applications that are not required. For example, remove additional language packs and themes. Cause 2 A large amount of BlackBerry smartphone user data is present on the BlackBerry smartphone that cannot be removed by the Low Memory Manager. Resolution To resolve this issue, complete the following steps: On the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Status. Display the menu, and select Database Sizes. Reduce the number of items that are increasing the size of the database. For example, if the Address Book database is large, remove out-of-date contacts. If the Content Store database is large, move media files from the BlackBerry smartphone memory to a media card. Cause 3 Media settings may contribute to low memory capacity. Resolution Modify the Device Memory Limit settings by completing the following steps: On the BlackBerry smartphone, click Media. Select a media application. Display the menu, and click Options. Set the Device Memory Limit to the lowest setting field. Display the menu, and click Save. Note: Some BlackBerry smartphones have integrated cameras without a media card. As a result, some features have been added to handle picture storage on the BlackBerry smartphone, including the following: · Reserved Pictures Memory: In BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0, the default value setting is 10 MB. In BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 - 4.7, the default value setting has been reduced to 2 MB. This setting reserves memory for pictures that the BlackBerry smartphone might take, and reduce the File Free amount that is displayed in the BlackBerry smartphone. This makes sure that the BlackBerry smartphone has memory available for pictures that are taken when a media card is not inserted in the BlackBerry smartphone. · Device Memory Limit: The default value setting is 20 MB. This prevents the BlackBerry smartphone from storing more than the specified amount of memory use. Cause 4 An application has expanded beyond intended memory boundaries. Resolution Note: In the Java® operating environment, applications increase and reduce memory usage when the applications launch, run required processes, and close processes. An application may use more memory than it is intended to use. Please make note of the values outlined in the following steps: On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options. Click Status and note the values listed for File Free and File Total. Divide each of these two values by 1024, so that they are measured in kilobytes (KB). Record the new values, and name them as Displayed File Free and Displayed File Total. Display the menu, and click Database Sizes. Record the value shown in the Total Size field at the top of the screen. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager, then open the application loader tool. Click Next on the Welcome screen. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and allow the application loader tool to detect it. You might be prompted to type a password. Click Next on the Device Application Selection screen. Verify that the List additional applications that are installed on the connected device check box is selected. Record the value for the Total application space, located at the bottom of the window. Calculate the Reserved Pictures Memory for BlackBerry smartphones that have integrated cameras. If a camera is not integrated, proceed to step 12. On the BlackBerry smartphone, open the Media application. Display the menu, and click Options. Note the Reserved Pictures Memory value and multiply that value by 1024. Record the value. For example, 2 MB * 1024 = 2048. To calculate the Total Amount of Memory In Usage, add the values for Total Application Space, Total Size, and Reserved Pictures Memory (if applicable). To get the Calculated File Free value, subtract the value for Total Amount of Memory In Usage from the Total Flash Memory supported by the BlackBerry smartphone.
