Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
You recently wrote a solution regarding a non-typing EM-630. Since you are a typewriter expert I wanted to write directly to you in hope of giving you better information about my nonworking typewriter. I really want it to work!
The ribbon is definitely not twisted because it types characters just fine when "delete" is pressed, which is the only time when the strikers hit the ribbon. I feel like the typewriter is working but it is in the wrong mode or the delete and print functions have been switched.
As I type the ribbon moves up out of the way, and the strikers hit the paper. I can't see anything to adjust or anything that looks wrong about how the typewriter is set up and I can't find any clues in the manual. I can take pictures/videos tonight when I get home, if this will help.
I really appreciate that there are still people who care about keeping old typewriters running!
If the ribbon is lifting to high to type it is either not snapped down or the platform it sits on is bent up, or posablt the lift pin is not positioned into the drive cam (hard to see this part)
