SENSOR PROBLEM ON SAMASUNG SRS580DW (side by side fridge)

I have a Samsung SRS580DW side by side fridge.The panel where it displays the temperature isn't functioning properly. All the buttons don't work, these include;
"freezer temp."
"refrigerator temp."
" vacation"
"quick freeze"
The only thing that works is when i hold the " freezer temp" and "refrigerator temp" ( both at the same time) Doing this locks the panel.
Most of the time i hear a beeping noise ( you hear this sound when chnaging the temp or if the door is left open) but i dont know what it does. I know there is nothing wrong with the doors. I think its got to do something with the Control Panel.

Any help would be appreciated.

Most refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer. I suggest that you give it some time, and make sure the small door or damper leading from the freezer to the fridge is open and not obstructed by any food items

this is a common fault, you need to replace the defrost heater and thermal cut-out in the fridge section behind the salad buckets, a temporary fix for a few weeks is to switch the whole thing off at the wall and leave the fridge and freezer doors open for at least 24hrs to allow the frozen up evaporator to defrost.

It might be that your fridge went into something called 'demo mode' that shuts the compressor down so as not to waste electricity on the showroom floor. The freezer and fridge sides both start to warm up, but the temperatures shown on the outside of the door never change, so you don't know you have a problem until you open the fridge or freezer and find you have a melted mess. My Samsung is 7 years old and we run into this problem frequently when our power is on and off, like just recently with hurricane Ike. Per the Samsung website, the cure for 'demo mode' is to unplug the fridge for 1 minute then plug it back in. They also suggested pressing Power Freeze and Freezer Temp together for 8 seconds until you hear a chime to cancel demo mode. Good luck. I really dislike this machine.

Samsung french door fridge not working?

I had the same problem ("OF" on display and not working) and just found a fix and it worked (on SAMSUNG site).It was correctly stated that fridge is in "demo" mode. You need to push and hold POWER FREEZE and ENERGY SAVER buttons (not "Fridge button and the Power Cool buttons" as it was suggested above).

Samsung side by side srs580dw stops freezing and chilling

Since the temps on the display don't show correctly I'd assume something is wrong with that. If the temps are sending info out that the unit is OK and at proper temp (when it's not) then the compressor won't turn on because it thinks the fridge is cold enough. Soooo... I'd suspect that control board. It's item 48 on this diagram http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/SS10-2.gif
