Question about D-Link DIR-625 (790069292637) Wireless Router

1 Answer

No power? We rearranged the furniture in our living room, and for some reason the router won't power on. It is connected exactly the same way, it was powered off before unplugging, it is plugged in to the outlet (which is working). What am I missing?!

The exact same thing happened with me tonight. I thought I'd move the router to another room, realised there's no electrical outlet near and put the router back in the same place using the same cables. Now it won't power on. I held the reset for 45 seconds, still no power on.

I have a D-Link Router, with an antenna that screws off, and now won't tighten. The entire copper piece outsde the router comes out. One month ago I was able to connect to XBOX LIVE, but now It wo

yes it can be, one antenna receives(Rx) and the other transmits(Tx)
other reasons are
1.) encryption of the router is set wrong
2.) router firewall maybe blocking (put Xbox into the DMZ)
3.) router was hacked and you no longer have control of it.
4.) you have been ban by Xbox live (check your email)
5.) Xbox wifi may be damaged or off.
theres more but start with the easy ones first.

There are a few things to try:
  • Move the router to a location that is higher off the floor
  • Move the router off of metal cabinets or away from large metal furniture
  • Get rid of 2.4 GHz cordless phones and buy DECT 6.0 compliant cordless phones
  • Buy a 9DB gain antenna for the router
  • Change the channel that you are using to one that you're not using: 1, 6, 11 (choose the one you're not currently using)
  • If your house has lathe and plaster walls, realize that these walls are like concrete -- they reduce WiFi signals by 13dB ( a lot -- drywall only reduces signal by 3DB)

You have a few options. If you already have a router, set this one up as an Wireless Access point. It pulls signals from the main router and you can connect to this one. BUT your signal could be weak depending on the distance, walls etc. If you can make a cable run, use it as a switch. (Extend your ports, and as a wireless point. Go to Cisco Linksys and download the manual. It is not difficult. Use the main router as a your DHCP and this one as a wireless point. You will need to set up the SSID and security (Securty is optional, but I would do it). Give it a SSID different then your main one and you can setup your device to connect to the one with the strongest signal (Most do this by default.

Try using the hardware reset button on the Linksys. Every settings / changes you have done will reset.

There are several likely causes, if the building has plaster walls it may have metal lath behind it blocking the signal.(this is fairly likely the cause) If there are high-power microwave transmitters within 2 or 3 km, can cause spotty interfering. Neighbors with a wireless router close to your wall can as well.
If you can move the router to a position across from the door between the rooms, you can test by connecting (wireless) your laptop near the router, then walk it into the other room (stay where you can see the router). If the laptop stays connected move across the room to a point where you did not have a signal previously, if you are still connected leave the laptop there and move the router back to its original location and recheck the laptops connection, if it is gone, it is your wall...

My wife rearranged furniture and in the process

The router is OK, do not reset or change any settings.

There is interference between the router and the Dell. Move the router higher and point the antennas in-line with the direction of the Dell.

Look for obtacles such as refrigerator, metal file cabinet, metal desk, many walls, large mirror on wall, etc. The signal reflects and does not pass through metal or metal coatings.

Internet connection disappears.

You may either need to do a firmware update, or reset it back to factory default, you can download the firmware from the netgear site, or you can log onto the router and do a reset of the router.

Hope this helps,
Daid

XBOX Live & Netgear Router Help!!!!!!!!!!!

You need a excellent signal to your Xbox. Xbox requires a constant connection. My son as an Xbox and we had to run a wire connection to the Xbox no problems after that. Or you need to move your wireless router to the same room as your xbox to get a stronger connection.
