SOURCE: line across paper from Canon iR2016 copier

The line may simply be the optics (mirrors) are dirty. Take a lens cloth or a very soft cloth with 91% alcohol (just alittle bit) and clean them and the exposure glass. That should do the trick. You can also use this method on the rollers as well. Just make sure the fuser roller is cool to the touch first.

SOURCE: copies print with horizontal lines

thin lines? spaced about 1.5 inches apart could be toner left on the drum, take the cartridge out turn it over and retract the shutter, manually turn the drum using your thumbs on the edges of the drum, do you see thin lines on the drum? sometimes something sticky gets on the drum attracting toner and then it transfers to the paper during the copy process

SOURCE: Canon np 1010 copier

There is a Drum UNIT for your machine that I think is User friendly. Just order the Canon Brand, and if the unit is User Friendly, they place instructions on how to replace it in your machine. Your best bet is to find a company online that has a Canon Brand Drum unit in stock, and also a toll free phone number, and when you call them up, ask them if the drum unit is User Friendly (Customer Replaceable) if so, then order the drum unit (not just the drum by itself, but the unit is recommended) and replace the unit. This should take care of the line problem that you are having.

IF you want to be sure about the lines on the drum, get a flashlight and look inside the machine and on the drum. After making a copy and having lines show up on your copy, turn the machine off, open the front door, and machine. Look inside with a flashlight by the drum. If you see lines on the drum, then you know the problem is in the drum unit.
Hope this helps.
FYI, Canon Drum units on a couple sites goes for 95.00 - 125.00.
Good luck.

Try cleaning printhead (google it you find it) make sure you attempt cleaning with Windex ammonia D (overnight solution)

If not you may have to replace Printhead (Plastic Box, cartridges snap into) sometimes the resistor will burn out.

My printer will not fax says not connected to network when it is.

faxing requires some type of Phone connection in most instances, network faxing is another set of drivers that need to run on your PC, the same as phone line faxing that utilizes your modem (as long as the modem is fax capable) the issue you have is the way it is set up. first off you have to have the communications between the printer and the computer running properly. If you do not have a router with a wifi connection and the printer is connecting directly to the computer wirelessly, you need to make sure it is set for peer to peer networking, if you have a true network using a router and wifi (more than one computer can connect to it, you need to make sure you are set for that. Remember, you are not faxing from the printer if it is not connected to a phone line, you are faxing from your computer. and you need to make sure you are running the correct type of fax software, for network faxing or dial up (phone line) faxing.

Want receive a fax

To receive a fax, first check to see if your telephone line has the capacity to send and receive faxes, a "conventional modem" sometimes is necessary, that may have changed with VOIP . Make sure to configure printer for faxing and that the Fax icon appears in the Printer/Fax window.. Follow all the basic set up steps to configure Fax, making sure all options are set correctly to enable where required. You might call your local phone company and ask them what you need to hook up a fax capable printer...or ask the manufacturer for the specifics of configuration for faxing.

Comm Error 232

This is an error during faxing, typical of static on the line or poor line quality if you are on digital phone lines contact your service provider and request filter to install on the phone line. You can purchase a filter at radio shack, but make sure that your service provider recommends the filter.

In the mean time try changing the fax speed to medium and error correction mode off:
both of these options are under the fax setup/all faxes menu

Can't fax multible pages

Your fax machine reads multiple pages into memory before sending the job, this is the pool memory. Two things can cause this error.

  1. Corrupted memory, which keeps the job from transmitting because the data stored is scrambled and lost prior to transmission.
  2. Line static, which makes the connection so unstable and slow that the fax can't get enough pages out of the queue fast enough to make room for the next pages entering the buffer.
If you checked the line and it tested good (not just listening for a dial tone), then it is probably a memory issue.

Our MFC 7840 printer when faxing keeps saying

Depending on your location the line coulod well be poor quality for a sensitive fax. Any spurious sounds on a fax line will cause it to fault.
May I suggest you try the fax on the mainline first before assuming the unit is at fault.

Length of line from point a to b can also reduce the efficiency of signal. It may sound ok to the ear, but resistance may be the factor in reducing the level of the tone that the fax requires to hear and then activate send or receive. It reports poor line condition and even poor memory because it keeps loading to send.

If it does it on the mainline as well then I would be considering a technical call for help. There may be a fault in the unit.

please rwte my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA
