i have the same problem with my cleaner. All that shoots out is the cleaning solution and the tank empties in a minute or two. Anyone know what the problem can be and how it can be fixed?

I had this problem, too. My machine is only a year old, so I was hoping it wasn't the pump already. I called the help line, and surprise - no help. They recommended a fix-it place, but the fix-it guy wouldn't help me over the phone. So I fiddled around with it and found the problem - the plug thingy underneath the main tank. The spring mechanism inside it was stuck, preventing any water from going thru it.

Lift out the main tank in the front and bring it to the sink. Feel inside the plug underneath. While holding the tank upright over the sink, push inside the plug. Water should squirt out the bottom of the plug. If it doesn't, turn the tank over, unscrew the plug, and try pushing the inside of it. It is spring-loaded like a ball-point pen. When I pushed the inside of the plug a few times, screwed it back in, and then put the tank on again, the machine worked like new. If your plug doesn't spring, maybe it needs to be cleaned out or replaced. If a new plug is needed, it probably doesn't cost as much as bringing it in for service. It's a small, simple part, and can probably be ordered online. Good luck!

There is a plug in the bottom of the cleaning solution tank as well. If your solution isn't dispensing, check to make sure that plug is "springing" too.

Earlier someone said to inspect the tank plug, and when inspecting this tank plug make sure the large red gasket is on the tank end of the nipple and not on the receiving end on the chasis.

I had a very similiar problem and spent about 4 hours troubleshooting it, I thought it was a pump or the lines. Check the gaskets, they are the easiest thing and the most probable cause.

Try cleaning the two red spray nozzles under the tank. You may have to disconnect the small hose from each and use a small wire. Both mine were clogged...Good Luck

Bissell steam cleaner will not spray shampoo

My Bissell stops releasing shampoo when the handle is lacked upright, when there is no water in the tank (the most common cause of this issue), or when water is not flowing through the machine because the sprayers are clogged.

Make sure the shampoo container grommet is releasing properly when you press the trigger. To check this, remove the shampoo tank from the Bissell, stand over a sink, and use a finger to push up inside the grommet on the shampoo container, the part of it that mates with the rest of the Bissell. Shampoo should dribble out when you do this. If it won't, the grommet may be clogged.

Something is probably clogging up the suction.
Try to snake it out with a coat hanger or similar tool.
Often, especially with shedding pets hair will clog the suction pipes.

Try checking the lint filter. It is located in the top clear plastic section (the one with the dial to switch from floor to tool use) and is on the underside. It is a small (1 inch square) red plastic filter with a little door on it. Open the door and you will probably find it is clogged with hair, carpet fibre., etc.. Clean this out and you will hopefully have suction again.

You may try the trigger assembly may not be releasing the water , your brushes spin and the soap comes out but no water – it may have come unhooked or broken, also the water line could be plugged, clogged or pinched and not releasing water to the brushes -- you may try the owners manual for the trouble shooting for the item or check the Bissell website listed below or the customer service phone number of 1-800-237-7691 – the website has a list of trouble shooting listed right on the website I you enter the Model number and hit trouble shooting
