Same problem over here, I dropped my camera while in a excursion last month. It fell off the tripod (I know, it was my fault, I didn't check the screw after carring it fixed on the tripod, but I was in a big hurry... :( )

Since then, all pictures (and movies) taken in poor light conditions have a horizontal black grid. The grid is in fact composed from underexposed bands (equal in height) distributed regulary across the picture. The effect is very similar with the one obtained when you shoot a picture through a window shade...

Reset had no effect, nor different settings.

I need a service manual, please.

Horizontal lines and bad exposure in pics

Hi there,

Were you able to solve your camera? I got my Camera fixed for FREE! I was able to do macro shots again. Trust me and go to canon. What I did is to print this advisory from canon itself. And show it to them.

Horizontal lines and blurred pics distorted colors, sometimes no pic at all.

I assume that you have ruled out a bad LCD screen.
The only time I have seen horizontal lines in the pictures, it was a prelude to the CCD sensor failing. Sounds like a CCD sensor problem. If the CCD sensor is causing the problem, it will get worse soon.Usually the next thing to happen is that the colors will shift toward pink.
I suggest you phone Canon support and tell them the problem and that you suspect the CCD.Ask for a repair quote for a CCD replacement. If the product is under warranty Canon will repair it free of cost and also it will take care of the shipping fee.

Horizontal lines in pictures

hi If u find that the lines are vertical that is often a result of taking pictures of very bright subjects. This is  called vertical streaking. If the lines are horizontal lines there is probably something wrong with your sensor and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician , and they will send it out to have it looked at. hope this helps!
thank u rate me!!!
