Question about Nintendo Wii Console

Wii gone bad?

Son bought new game-so there are no scratches, not dirty, etc.. Played fine for first night. 2nd time playing- in the middle of play the screen would do darker (still see the game just like a shadow over it) then go back to full color, then go dark--on an off then go "static-y" then go black and then screen just went white and even hitting the reset button did nothing. Turned off the wii-unplugged it--plugged back in turned on and could not get anything to come up on the screen. WIERD! We haven't had any problems with the wii till now and we have had it a little over 1 year. If anyone can tell me what's wrong i would appreciated it!! =)

An error has occured. Press the Eject Button, remove the game disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for more information.

It could be a bad copy. Simply, I had a similar issue on the release of COD MW3, the copies were simply bad. So just take it back were you got it, and do a swap for a new one. Check the SN: numbers on the back, make sure you don't get the same copy. Good luck.

How to troubleshoot a wii console

The disk is most likely scratched or dirty. try cleaning it of with lens cleaning fluid and a soft cloth. If that dose not work and there are many scratches, then take tooth paste without gel in it and a soft rag. Put this all over the disk and scrub from the center out. This acts like super fine sandpaper getting rid of the scratches making it able to be played. one you scrub it was it off and dry it off then play.

Hi, don't know if I am sending this to the right bit or not. My son has an older version of the xbox and I bought him a second hand Lego Indiana Jones game which he loves, used to play ok then started...

this is in the wrong section... but... is there any visible scratches on the disc? if there is a visible scratch you can take it into a music store etc.. and they can polish out the scratch for less then $20 :) hope this is helpful

What if im playing a Wii and my Gamecube disc doesn't work? I've bought a faulty disc before, but I doubt that this is the case. What should I do?

You have a dirty laser or bad laser or bad disc. Suggest seeing if it played on a gamecube or someone elses wii. Will your system play all your other games? If so its the game disc. If your wii has troubles with other games its your wii console.

Disc won't play

As the Wii uses discs that can be scratched, dirty, or otherwise damaged -- it's important to first check the disc.

Look for fingerprints or other smudge marks. If you have dirty marks on the disc, you can wash it off with regular dish soap and water. Not too much soap though. Make sure you dry it off with something very soft [like a microfiber cloth] before you put it back into your Wii.

Second -- scratches will stop a disc from playing... or the disc will play until it gets to the scrached section then give you an error. Check and make sure there are not too many -- or deep scraches.

If a scratched game won't play through but other games play just fine -- chances are the disc is bad. However, if nothing is playing through on your Wii, not even a new game, there is a problem with the Wii's DVD drive. There is a laser in the drive that reads discs -- and many other moving parts in there. The following website sells the Wii DVD drives. It's not too difficult to replace yourself:

Won't read disc. Disc played before perfect. Not scratched or damaged not dirty

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide
