Newer Lexmark printers require the .Net framework be installed for the software to function correctly. Verify requirements by the documentation or during the software install. If need be download the correct version .NET 2 (I believe) from Microsoft's website.

The Toner light flashes, it will not print .

Have you replaced the toner? By your post, it doesn't sound like it. Toner only lasts so long, it does run out, and then it's time to replace the cartridge. You can probably buy one from where ever you bought the printer, otherwise, Amazon.com is always a good place to buy things.

Pdf file too large: 1-2 pages about 1 MG.

Try and print the document 1 page at a time, upgrade the memory in the printer if you can, and most importantly; make sure that this is not a false error because the PDF requires postscript fonts to be installed you don't have installed on your printer. You can do this as follows.

Their are 3 standards for postscript, go to the manufacturers website and download the newest version of the postscript driver, not PCL. Many printers go nuts if running on an installed PCL driver and asked to print a PDF. If all else fails, this typically gives a lot of false errors.

I have an error message on my 2280+ Serial Printer that says ''Hardware Alarm'' Could you be as kind as to help me with this one please?

The 2280+ will normally display two lines of numbers when it displays a Hardware Alarm error. These numbers give a better idea of what might be causing the problem.

Some things you might want to try are;

1. Power the printer off, and remove the ribbon from the printer. Try sliding the print head from side to side. The print head should be free to move when the printer is powered off. In doing this you can check for any instructions which may be stopping the print head moving.
2. Check the ribbon cartridge, ensure the ribbon cartridge is not jammed, twisted or damaged. Perhaps try powering the printer on with no ribbon and try printing to identify if the ribbon may be causing the problem.
3. Clean the Timing Strip and Carriage shaft.
The Carriage Shaft is the metal shaft that runs the width across the printer. This is the shaft the print head slides across.
The carriage shaft should be clean and free from any type of lubricant. I would recommend cleaning this shaft and any build up of paper dust or other dirt on the carriage shaft this can cause problems with print head movement. If the carriage shaft has any lubricant I would recommend cleaning this lubricant off the carriage shaft.

The Timing strip is a thin plastic strip that runs across the printer just next to the carriage shaft. I would recommend cleaning the Timing Strip with a dry cloth to remove any dirt or dust. The printer uses the timing strip to monitor the position of the print head. If the timing strip is dirty or dusty this can prevent the printer detecting the position of the print head and will cause this type of error.

Other than that you may need to see what other errors are being seen on the pritner.

Printer is ok but when i give the print command after some time it shows error which ''print error'' what is the problem

I'd like to have answers for some questions.

1) What interface do you use? Parallel or Serial
2) Does the printer run the self test? Switch on by holding LF/FF
3) Let me know the printer settings. You can find it by Switching on printer by holding FONT button. After it prints some data, press LF/FF. You will get the current settings of the printer.

Thank you!

My x5470 won't print and error message says

Hi

Please do the following:

1) open the printer
2)remove the cartridge.

The problem is in scheme from printer that touches the cartridge from behind. You must clean this scheme from ink with a soft cloth dipped in spirit/kleannex.
Use the klennex/spirit and clean off those contact on the holder and printer will work again.

Then before you print anything, you should run cartridge alignment from control panel- printers and faxes-> right click on default printer-> properties-> printing prefrences(general tab) and also print a test page. Align the catridge and then run clean catridges a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it's look and way you go.

Be sure not to leave any debris of klennex/spirit on those holder contact panel

Please ask for further assistance and Do rate the solution as "FixYa" if you found it useful.

Thanks
Rylee
