I am not a techy but many years ago we purchased (and use) aYamaha HTR-5740. We never used the headphones but my husband has lost quite a bit of his hearing so he turns the volume really really high. Where...

You don't need any particular model of headphones/earphones for a receiver. Just go to any hi-fi or department store, a Walmart for example, and find something in the price range you like, keeping in mind that if they're -really- low-priced then they're probably not very good, but you should be able to find a decent set of headphones between $20 and $40. Most headphones these days are sold with the 2mm diameter "mini-plug" at the other end. But most often, a receiver such as you have, will have a 1/4" headphone input socket on the front panel, much larger than the mini-plug diameter. So you will also need a 1/4"-to-mini plug adapter, which often is sold with the headphones, but can be bought separately as well.

Check radio shack. It might not be exact replacement but they should have something compatible. If they don't email or call Shure microphone co. They have dozens of different style clips used with their lavaliere microphones

The headphones are really not repairable, I suggest returning to the store for a exchange and get them to test it for you.

DENON AVR 2308 no longer works only after 3 weeks of purchase!!!

You need to get more details. What component has failed that makes them believe that a surge caused the problem. There is usually a thermal fuse inside of the main power transformer that CAN be effected by power surges. WIthout more details, I really can't rpovide any ammunition for your claim. Please request exact details from the servicer.

I purchased my Denon AVR-987 about 16 months ago from Circuit city and did not purchase the extended warranty. I has been working fine, until just recently, The on button blinks, then turns off...

In all likelyhood, there is a problem with one of the surround amplifiers. With the volume really low, there is no current draw in the amp section. This unit requires service. Expect a parts cost in the $20-$40 range. Add in the local labor rate for the total cost.
