Ti-89 titanium diagnostics

There is no DiagnosticsOn command in the TI 89 Titanium. The command exists on the TI83/84PLUS where it displays the r and r^2 coefficients. On the TI89 , the correlation coefficient and the determination coefficient (r, r^2) are displayed by default among the statistics if THE REGRESSION MODEL includes them. If they are not defined by the regression model they will not be displayed. In short, you do not have to turn diagnostics ON.

Upper half oc the screen on my TI- 84 calculator is blank

The Mode settings determine how entries are interpreted and how
answers are displayed on the TI-84 Plus. At first set option full screen and then folow next:If you cannot see anything on the screen, you may need to adjust the graphing TI 84 calculator contrast :
1.To darken the screen, press and release 2nd key, and then press and hold up-arrow key until the display is sufficiently dark.
2. To lighten the screen, press and release 2nd key, and then press and hold down-arrow key until the display is sufficiently light.

There's a blank bar that runs horizontal in the middle of my TI-84 plus that's about 16 pixels wide(high?). It's the same color as when the device is turned off. I've tried a memory reset and no results....

It sounds as if you might have split screen mode on. I've got a TI-83 as well as a TI-89 Titanium, both offer a split screen mode. The latter allows for choosing which applications are displayed on each half screen. I am presuming that you may have accidentally put your TI-84 in this mode.

So, if it is a split screen deal then all you have to do is go to the mode screen, find the option for switching from split screen to full screen, and switch it back to full.

I hope that helps. Give us your results!

I'm using a TI-83 Plus calculator. Halfway through my screen there is a straight line preventing me from using the top half of the screen. No matter what I do I can only use the bottom half. Is there...

You probably have your calculator set to display the graph on the home screen. Try pressing MODE and going to the last option, then changing it from "Horiz" to "Full". "Horiz" means it is displaying the graph (probably without axes since your screen is otherwise blank) on half the screen.

Half of my home screen is taken up by the graph application. how do i get the screen back to normal? also everytime i do anything the answer is wrong ex. 5x6=3.0e1 ???

You're in a split-screen mode. To get out of it, press MODE, press down-arrow to get to the line beginning "FULL", use left-arrow to highlight the "FULL", press ENTER, then 2ND [QUIT].

It's giving you the correct answer. 5x6 is 3x10^1, which is 30 in scientific notation. To get out of scientific notation, press MODE, highlight "NORMAL" on the top line, press ENTER 2ND [QUIT].

My daughter is starting 6th grade and they have asked her to get a T1-30XA or TI-83/TI-84, she is not advanced in math. Which on would you recommend ?

The Ti83/84PLUS are a lot more advanced than the TI-30XA because thaeu can graphs, statistics, calculus etc. But they lack a key for the % function, and a key for the fraction manipulation, the angle unit conversions (deg, radians, et grads) and they are a lot more expensive than the TI30XA.

Before your daughter finishes high school, you will eventually have to buy her a graphing calculator but right now a TI83/84Plus calculator seems like overkill. Besides some teachers may not let students have graphing calculators during exams.

Honestly I suggest you buy the TI-30XA Solar version. There are some new nifty calculators manufactured by Casio (Casio FX-115ES, FX-991ES, FX-300ES), Sharp (El-506W, 516W ). The beautiful thing about these new kinds of calculators is that you can configure them to use the Textbook display: equations and expressions can be entered as they would appear in textbooks. The Casios are called Natural Display and the Sharps are know as WriteView models.
In fairness to Texas Instruments, they too have calculators that incorporate that display format but I do not know the exact model numbers (maybe TI34XII multiview).

A manual

Go to the web site. Cilck the downloads menu then the guidebooks submenu. Click the graphing calculators link. You can download the TI83Plus or TI 84Plus Silver edition guide (in English). On the right you can choose a guide in another language.

Hope it helps

How do you figure out percent on the TI-84Plus Program. Calculatr

To figure out the percent, you simply divide your number by 100. Or, multiply your number by .xx (xx being whatever percent you want to find).
For example, if I want to know what 20% of 50 is, I would enter this:
.20 x 50 =
The answer is 10. So, 10 is 20% of 50.
As for the divide button, look for a "/".
If this helps, please take the time to give this response a positive rating. Thanks!

Just passing by, make sure you aren't zoomed in or panned away from the axis when you look. Check to see if there is some way you could be referencing a matrix. I can pull up a similar error by trying to pull a value out of a non-existant slot. I got my first TI 2 days ago, so I probably don't know as much as you.
