I have a HP Photosmart 7660 Printer. The light keeps blinking red. I have unpluged it for several hours and as soon as I plug it back up it starts blinking red. I used it the othe week with no problem. What is causing the red to keep blinking red instead of green? Please give me a solution.

Re: Blinking Red Light
Unplug your printer try to move the ink case manually. if you could remove the ink cartridge, then clean the contacts both on the cartridge and case. return the cartridges then move the case to its original location plug

PUT PAPER INSIDE PRINTER POWER OFF THE PRINTER. THEN PRESS & HOLD THE BUTTON ON TOP OF PRINTER BY HOLDING THE BUTTON NOW SWITCH THE PRINTER ON & WAIT UNTIL THE SIZE OF PAPER IS SCANNED . IT WIILL BE DONE.
If cartridge cradle will not move to the left while red light blinking quickly, then it's a hardware malfunction (a known issue) and must be returned to HP. They will only replace while under warranty. I just had this happen with my 7660 and went all through it with tech support. Known issue but they won't fix it. Bad customer service, IMO.
Red Light blinks when the ink cartridge is bad..
to check which one is bad..
take out all cartridges from the printer and clean the copper contact and the inner area of the cartridge slot with a lint-free cloth...
power off the printer and unplug the power cable from the printer..
press & hold the power button on the printer for 60 seconds..
connect the power cable and power on the printer..
insert any ONE cartridge and close the door..
similarly insert other cartridges one by one and close the door and check if the light blinks..
if it blinks ..it means the respective cartridge is bad and replace it..
if u have replaced all the cartridge..it might be possible that the cartridge sensor inside the printer have gone bad..
if this is the case so ..u might service the printer..
but I will suggest to go for a new printer as 7660 is quite an lod printer which hp launched in 2004 or 2005..
even if u have juz bought it ..it will be refurbished one..
Look under the cover where the print head is. Make sure the covers holding in the ink cartridges are snapped closed completely. Also, with the machine off try sliding the print head left to right and make sure nothing is obstructing it. Good luck
