Plug an external monitor or HD tv to the video out and see if a display comes up if not grab a flashlight and see if there is any display. Try pressing the F6 key to pull the computer out of hibernate mode. Acer is aware of this issue but no fix or firmware update has been released
disconnect the battery from the laptop and only hook up the ac adaptor.
Turn the laptop on and if it still cuts off after 5 seconds then reseat the memory back into its slots.
Also make sure your air vents are not clogged with dirt or dust as lack or air flow can cause the laptop to shut off.
If that doesn't do it then take out the hard drive and dvd drive and turn on the laptop.
If the laptop still cuts off then it has to be a faulty motherboard at that point which means to much voltage is going thru and the components on the motherboard are not regulating it properly.
If you dont see any green lights and you dont hear any boot up sounds ( hd, fans, etc) try to take out battery and just plug in the AC adapter to a known good power outlet. Make sure your power plug is good too. If you hear boot-up sounds, see green lights but no display then toggle on the "fn" key and or try on an external monitor.
