It's because there is to much wattage for your reciever to handle. Your reciever can't handle your speakers.

How to adjust bass and treble

this is kinda vague i hope this helps! first turn the equlizer to flat make sure eveything is equal. then turn he volume about 3/4 of the way up. this is around the point where th radiostartsto send distortion to the speakers (the easiest way to blow speakers) . thenstartwith the bass. eeryones ears are different i usually tue the bass to a notch or so below half ao if the radio ges to +12 i wouldput it on 4 or 5. next the mids are usully set at about +2 or 3. then thetrebbel is set a hairhigher than the bass. make this your maximum listenig volume so you dong damage the speakers. Hope this helped! let me know

My 2001 330ci has the Harmon Kardon sound system. However, when I run the system at high volume for about 5 minutes, the front speakers start cutting in and out. It doesn't seem like a speaker is blown,...

Thermal issue is shutting down amps till temps moderate. You must be driving your system too hard. And check out your tone control settings especially the bass. Every 3 db boost forces amp to double power at that frequency so if you are already blasting at 100 watts, a 3 db boost will compel amp to put out 200 watts, etc. Very easy to overdrive and overheat amp. You might want to try blowing air over output stages to improve cooling at high volume levels.

You are lucky that you have good protection circuits - otherwise by now you would have blown the output stages.

My problem just came up recently. The speakers keep losing the bass and having nothing but treble coming out of the speakers. I checked all of the connections and they're all fine. This happens for about...

I just got that same problem too. Except its completely gone with the bass not coming back. I think it has to due with wiring because the speakers have not gone dead and there plugged directly into the outlet.

Bass speaker start up noise

Hello anne845,

It sounds like the installer wired the amp remote turn-on terminal to an "accessory" lead in your vehicle. Many stock radios do not have a dedicated amp turn-or lead and the alternative is to connect the amp to a switched power source (ignition or accessory). This means the amp turns on whenever you turn on the vehicle ignition, often resulting in a thumping from the subs. It is a perfectly satisfactory alternative, and will not damage either the amp or the sub. But it's irritating.

If the thumping is objectionable, have your installer wire a SPST (Single Pole, Single Throw) toggle switch inline with the turn-on wire. The switch should be mounted so it is accessible by the driver, and whenever you turn on the radio, turn on the toggle switch.

Hope this helps.

If you're saying you hooked the Bose speakers directly to the Yamaha's amp instead of the prescribed way through their own bass module - they're cooked.

Prot. light at High vol. (forget Bass CD)

You may have the speakers wired for the wrong impedance.

How many ohms per voice coil?

How many voice coils per speaker?

If the speakers are DVC, are the coils of each speaker wired in series or parallel?

Are the speakers bridged on the amp or one per channel?

BOOM BOOM BOOM

The Bose engineers in their "infinite" wisdom developed a $300 radio with no, that is NO, tone control. This means the only way to tune bass response is to reposition the Wave radio itself. If you put it in a corner of a room, it will produce the most bass. If it is only against one wall, not so much bass. To reduce bass response to a minimum, you would have to suspend the device from a wire in the middle of the room. Good luck. I would never buy a radio without a tone control; I literally inherited by Bose Wave Radio and use external speakers which do have tone controls.

You might have blown a speaker, or more than one. Check this first before you start trouble shooting the radio.
