Re: No Sound

Just check for the loose connections in red and white pins, also check whether the TV has been muted.

On the camera there is a place where it looks like sound should come out but when I replay video on camera I don't see a place to adjust the volume. thanks for your help

there is no volume control on the camera, it is pre set at a relatively low volume. The only way to hear better is to plug it into yout computer or tv and use the volume control on them.

Bars across picture when replaying tapes.

The tapes were recorded in LP mode and the replay is set to SP mode. Switch from "EASY" to "P" and replay and you should be OK

There is no voice when I replayed the camcorders

What happens to the audio when you play the tape in another machine? Does it still drop out? Check the tape visually when it has no sound and see if the edge of the tape is creased. Also is the picture OK when the sound goes off. Does it jump around ans lose sync. If it does it means that the tape is mistracking. It's possible for the tape guides to go out of alignment but usually this is accompanied by picture breakup too. If you've never done it before don't attempt to realign the guides youself, you can really put it out of alighnment and it will damage the tape. Is the microphone built in or removeable? if it's the latter then check the connections and make sure nothing's broken. If there's a switch to go from internal mic to external mic see if it's switched to the proper position, it could be half way between internal and external. I'm opting for a tape problem, Either way a trip to a repair shop may be the best bet. BMW

Sound scratchy

Seems to me that the first thing you want to do is find out if your problem comes from the camera speakers/output, or if it records them scratchy. Take one of the "scratchy" cassettes, and play them on another device to see if it transfers bad audio. If it does, then you're worst off offcourse, more of a repair. If it doesn't you can decide you don't need a repair, as long as it does the job. Good luck

Sound Problem

Digital video camcorder are recording signals in very thin line (as thin as 1/8 of a hair.) Therefore, following symptoms may appear if video heads become dirty even a little. Video heads may become dirty under the following conditions: (1) When using the camcorder in humid or hot places. (2) When using cassette with damaged or dirty tape. (3) When using the camcorder in dusty places. (4) When using the video heads without cleaning them for a long time. Note: Before you make important recording, clean the video heads and make a test recording first. We also recommend cleaning the video heads after use before storing the camcorder.
