Question about HP Pavilion Slimline s3400t, Intel Core 2 Duo processor E4600 , 4GB DDR2-800MHz dual ... PC Desktop

I load an Adobe Acrobat program installation CDROM and it locks up! Hi, this is a brand new HP Pavilion Slimline S3400T, windows vista. Only used a few weeks. I had no problems installing my other Adobe programs, however I put the Acrobat 9 PRO CDROM in there and it doesn't execute the installation as it should. So then I try to open the CDROM inside "My Computer" so that I can click on the .exe file to manually execute the installation. This is when it really locks up and goes into "not responding". It won't even show me the contents of the folder. Then everything else on my desktop disappears. Also two days ago, my sound stopped working for half the day. This is very disappointing for a brand new computer to do this. Any help would be great, thanks. Shelagh

The adobe program might not be compatibile with the version of windows on your computer.But i don't know why your sound would quit working.Your best bet taking it back to where you bought it and have them check it out for you.

Hi Kate1958. I found this for you. Do one or more of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Remove all versions of Acrobat or Reader, and then reinstall one version.
If multiple versions of Acrobat or Reader are installed on the system, remove all versions and then install only one version. See the documentation included with Windows for information about removing programs.
Note: If you need to have multiple versions of an Acrobat product installed, remove all versions and then reinstall them starting with the earliest, installing the latest version last.
Solution 2: Start Acrobat or Reader, and then open the PDF file in the web browser.
If an error occurs when you try to start Acrobat or Reader, refer to Related Documents below, or search the Adobe Support Knowledgebase:
-- If you use Acrobat, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrobat.html .
-- If you use Reader, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html .
Solution 3: Make sure that the External Window Handler file (ewh32.api) is in the Plug-ins folder.
If this file is missing, reinstall Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
The default location of the Plug-ins folder is:
-- For Acrobat: Program FilesAdobeAcrobat [version]Acrobat
-- For Reader: Program FilesAdobeAcrobat [version]Reader
Solution 4: Disable Web Browser Integration.
Disable Web Browser Integration so that PDF files open directly in Acrobat or Reader instead of in the web browser.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 6.0.x -7.0.x or Reader 6.0.x -7.0.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Reader.
2. Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet.
3. Deselect Display PDF in Browser.
4. Click OK.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 5.x or Acrobat Reader 5.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
2. Choose Edit > Preferences > General.
3. Click Options in the list in the Preferences dialog box.
4. Deselect Display PDF in Browser.
5. Click OK.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 4.x or Acrobat Reader 4.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
2. Choose File > Preferences > General.
3. Deselect Web Browser Integration in the General Preferences dialog box.
4. Click OK.

You should have a piece of software, AverMedia or maybe something else. Open it and change to composite/AV input, if you cant find the program you may need to download it from the hp support website.

dear,to remove/uninstalling the acrobat 9 reader ,,you must follow the following step..
1-open the control panel
2-open the add/remove program
3-click on acrobat 9 and press remove
4-then follow the step with instruction.

Cannot use reader 8.0,cannot remove it or install 9.0


oddly enough, you may find that updating the version 8.0 you have to 8.x will then allow you to remove it (or it will work correctly) can you open the reader manually in the programs list? if so open it, then go to help and check for updates. apply the updates. If they work you should be in good shape.

Hi when i go into some home pages anmd wish to look up flights etc the acrobat reader shows a fault and reads ACROBAT FAILS TO LOAD ITS CORE DLL.this peoblem then locks up the computer and i have no option...

I think your Adobe Acrobat is corrupted, you may have to uninstall it from the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel or Programs and Features in the Control Panel in Vista. Then afterwards reinstall the application from the ADOBE website. The link is:

Most likely the problem will be resolved after doing this. Try it out first.
