I accidentally left my coby in a pair of my pants and my mom put it in the washing machine on gentle for about half an hour. The mp3 player seems dry although I can't be one hundred percent certain that it's dry all the way through. It turns on when I plug it into my computer and it charges normally but turns off as soon as I unplug it. Also It will not turn on by itself. Should I leave it to dry longer? It's already been four, almost five days.

Re: It's dry but it's still not working.
There's really no way to fix something like this.Only thing you can try is to get a hair dryer and blow the air through the buttons or cord connection.Other than that it would be better to buy a new one.

If you've been trying to turn it on, then it's unlikely to work again.
If anything like that happens again, "DON'T TURN IT ON". Take the item
apart carefully keeping the screws together and leave the parts spread
out in a warm dry place like an airing cupboard for about a week. Then
put it back together and cross your fingers.
As a mom who did the exact same thing to her 14 year olds Ipod, I can totally empathize. However the only solution I came up with was to purchase a new Ipod. My daughter still has her original one due to sentimental value, it was engraved. It still has not ever worked again and this happened in March.
maybe your mom goes to collage and your MP3 is jealous of her. Seriously it was the same with mine cause when my mom quit collage it started working again then she decided to go back and it stopped working again.
I think you fried it. put it under a lamp for a while (not too close to the lamp) to try and dry it out. if that doesnt work, something shorted out inside, and you can repair it or get a nice shiny new one
Don't turn it on right away. Water alone does not break electronics. If the player was off when it got washed and it hasn't been turned on since it is probably still OK. If you turn it on when the unit is dry (inside), it will be OK.
But. If you tried it right away, and there was water in it when you turned it on it's game over. The unit will probably short out and never work again.
The question is how do you know when it is dry inside?
