Question about Toshiba 42H82 42" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Started getting squiggly vertical lines near the top of the screen at power-on. Lines disappeared in 10 to 20 minutes. Now these lines extend to the whole screen and don't go away for about an hour after power-on. Even then some line motion is seen at the top of the screen. Machine is just over 5 years.
Generally speaking, this type of symptom is caused by AC hum leaking throught the power supply. This can be due to a bad filter cap. Since this clears up after a while, I'd start by looking for poor solder connections in the power supply area. If you can, check the caps in that area as well. I'll research this a bit and try to get you more details.
