    Hi,

I have - had the problem, too. Monitor switches off and on in second frequencies about.

It happened when I did training in typing and I must have hit
accindently a key combination. Let say ALT+fn (just an example)
Then it started that on and off thing.

By trying to find those keys, i tried long long time till I hit the right
combination. Then monitor behaved normally again.

Sometimes it happened again in typing exercises, and by trying
to find the right key combination, I could recover it again.

By trying to recover to normal mode I went so fast that I cannot tell
the exact key combination. What I know is, that it is in the area of CTRL ALT a to f and z to b.

Very sorry cannot tell the exact keys
    I am running XP Pro

Is it an HP or a Viewsonic screen ?

Either way, looks like a power supply problem to me, some Viewsonic screens are known to have a problem with their inner power supply card, If your screen is still under warranty I suggest you don't lose time analysing the problem and just make them come and fix/replace it

CTRL ALT b restored my ViewSonic VE710b first time.

Well maybe not a lifesaver - but ceratainly an £80 new monitor cost saver.

Thanks

Have you tried checking with another monitor. Meaning that if the second monitor does not come on then the problem is with your computers mother board. But if the monitor other monitor you check it with comes on then of course it is your monitor.

I have a samsung 920nw monitor bought it new. It has worked great for months, this morning I went to turn it on and it only came on for a second then turned off. I have restarted the PC and the monitor...

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

I have a 20 sceptre widescreen lcd monitor

Have you tried any other monitor connected to your computer since your current problem? Check your connections, make sure your VGA cable/DVI cable are in good condition. If none of that works try to RMA it to sceptre if your still within the 1 year period.

No Display on my Samsung 204B monitor

If you know how to open it up and get to the power supply you will find three capacitors 2-820uf and 1-330 @ 25vdc 105o.they will have puffed up tops replace them. FYI the monitor has a 3 year warranty.

My acer,mod. 1715

Rich most likely this monitor needs capacitor replacement if you can solder you can do it, you just need to order or get the bad capacitors that need replacement so you need to open the case and get at the power board. once you can get at the blown caps you can see whats damaged and what is OK usually it is 1 or 2 capacitors at about 50 cents each. and about 1 hour of your time.
let me know what your doing, good luck

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

I start my computer and turn it on, and everything looks fine for about 1/4 of a second and then it goes black while leaving the power light green. I can only see the screen again after turning it off and on, but that's only for another 1/4 second. What's up?
I got my rosewill flatscreen as a hand me down from my father. I've had it for several years now. Was working fine until a month ago. When I turn the computer on the screen goes black after 1/4 of a saecond. I have to turn it off and on anywhere from 10 to 20 times before it stays on. I have checked all plugs to the computer and outlets. I have absolutely no idea whats causing this.
