Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My laptop keeps loosing the wireless router connection, this happens probably once a week, I try reconnecting by using EasyLink Advisor, it requests that I set it up manually by the startup disk or sometimes it will just start up after turning the router off and starting back up but it isn't responding to that now.

Sometimes the pc has a setting for turning off the wireless to save power. Go into the network card properties and uncheck the box to let the pc control the power on the wireless card. See if that helps.

I forgot my password for my wireless router, and can not sign my wifes new phone up on our wifi

When your phone asks for the password, out in the Encryption key. If you didn't print this out when you installed the router, insert the CD and install the Easylink Advisor, which wil then show up down in your taskbar in the bottom right corner of your screen. Open it, click on the Support tab, and it will show all your settings. For the password requested on your smartphone, enter the encryption key from your settings in EasyLink Advisor. That did it for me. Good luck!

When running EasyLink advisor Router does not see internet connection, however the internet is working fine ?

Save yourself some valuable system resources and uninstall the EasyLink advisor.

Go to the Web interface for your WRT54GS router. If you didn't change the settings the address will be

There is no username and the default password is admin. Make sure you create a strong password and change the default value. A strong password uses 6 or more characters and contains both upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.

Once you are able to log into the web interface click on status. You will be able to see if you are connected to your ISP.

Once you are configured the way you want it make sure you back up your configuration by going to Administration/Management. Click Backup Configuration and follow the instructions.

Best of Luck.

Internet connection

I think you have the software LELA (linksys easylink advisor) installed in your computer. Sometimes if it's not updated you it will prompt that you're not connected to the internet though you have internet access.

1) update your LELA - go to
there's a field there that says enter model/serial number - just type in LELA - then click enter
- on the next page - click on get downloads then select version 3.1
- below there's an option that says download and drivers and you can see there LELA 3.1 just click on the download link and save it in your desktop folder

note: it's quite a big file - more than 200Mb
- before you install it make sure you uninstall the old LELA in your computer
- to uninstall it - just go to add/remove programs then remove linksys easylink advisor

hope this helps... Tech what you want

EasyLink Advisor says "Internet Connection is not working"

This alert is the adviser you do not need the advisor for this gear to work, Now the DNS comes from your ISP internet service provider witch most likely will nt help you with your router so you may be out of luck there but uninstall the advisor software and you should be in good shape. Now for the DNS that would be with your ISP a call to them will not hurt things ether. Good luck if you have trouble please ask for a chat its pretty cheap and will get the job done!! Have a great day!

I cannot link my router and stay plugged in to DLS

Linksys has a software program at their website called Easylink Advisor. Have you installed it yet? I had to and it has helped keep all of our computers online and networked. All desktops and laptops in the house stay connected share files and one printer.
