Question about Kenmore 13.7 cu. ft. / 388 liter Upright Freezer 23424

1 Answer

Freezer defrosts and unfreezes everything. A day or so later it refreezes.

Every couple of months this freezer defrosts and allows everything to thaw.
In a day or so it begins to freeze again.

I have two of these freezers next to each other in a relatively small space

Most domestic freezers do not have a defrost control. .90 percent of them freeze and every few years enough ice builds up that you have to unload and manually defrost them. so what is probably happening is the stat is sticking in hte off position and not recognizing the call for cool when the temp gets up. if you catch it off and thawed try tapping the stat gently after the temp is getting way warm. if the box comes on and starts freezing again then the stat is sticking in the off cycle and needs to be replaced. usually under 75 dollars and fairly easy. two wires connect in any order.the stat itself has no in and out requirements. power in and power out when it closes. there may be a ground wire usually green and smaller connector attached to some newer stats. look close and you can see the difference. usually the voltage connections are next to each other and the ground is off to the side or end. stat is usually behind a plastic cover inside the freezer. good luck, disconnect power when you change stat of course.

Is my defrost timer broken or my thermostat? The freezer was holding -30 temp but now is at +30.

Is the compressor running? If not - the timer could be stuck in defrost mode. If it is ruinning, then the freezer coil should be cold. If it is choked with frost & ice - then the defrost heater isn't getting powered (bad timer or defrost terminator - or is getting powered but has burned out.

You should allow the ice and frost to melt completely before turning back on again. Typically ice and frost don't build up so bad in a few days time to cause the temperature rise you're describing If getting cold - the compressor and refrigerant is likely OK, if not the defrost circuit is suspect. If compressor running but not getting cold - a refrigerant leak / charge level may be causing the problem.

Kenmore chest freezer - why is there a 1/2 inch of ice in bottom

Hello. If your freezer is not a self defroster, you must have had a power failure for a few hours that caused a melt with water ending up on the floor of the freezer and then refreezing. IF you have a self-defrost model, your defrost cycle produces some water which should make it's way down to the evaporator tray just above the floor... in your case, the small hole in the floor is plugged and the water is accumulating on the floor rather than making it's way to the evaporator tray. The fix is to clean the evaporator tray, defrost the ice with a blow dryer, locate the hole and clean it out with a couple of pipe cleaners or cotton swabs. Regards, Joe

BEKO Frost free freezer not as cold as it should be!

Sorry I don't have a solution for you, however would like to know if you found out what was wrong. I have an identical problem with my Beko fridge/freezer. It's only 14 months old and the freezer just wont freeze. I've turn it off for 24 hour and let it defrost completely (even had the panel off to make sure there was no ice left). I've turned it back on again and it still wont freeze. Everything seems ok, ie fan blowing, motor running etc. I really am beginning to regret buying Beko. thanks

Kenmore freezer peeing on my floor

  • if the door was not closed correctly for a while then a lot of condensation will be accumulated on the freezer coils.
  • then when going into defrost it melts this ice/frost and overflows the pan or container under the machine which relies on evaporation to dispel  of the water.
  • empty the pan under the refrigerator if you can, then give it another day, it will get back to normal.
if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.
