Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

I had my ps3 set to 1080p on a 1080p projector last week. now i have it hooked up to my 1080i plasma with my hdmi cable and my tv says " not supported mode" and wont show video at all. i tried just the basic yellow red and white cables on both my plasma and my other tv and no video shows up with that either. what do i do to get video back?! can i somehow reset the playstations settings?

Dynex HDTV says not supported when PS3 is connected via HDMI

Have you tried changing the video output settings on the PS3? It may just be on a setting that the TV does not support. For instance, if the poutput setting is 1080P, and the TV only supports up to 1080i, you would get a "not supported" signal. Hook the ps3 to a tv that it works on...turn it on, go to settings- display settings-output settings- select HDMI as the connector type- if it asks for 3D tv size...select the size- now you need to set the resolution...select all resolutions that the TV supports, since it is a dynex...it is likely a 720p TV. So I would start by selecting only 720p, and then hook the system to the Dynex TV and see if it works now. If it works, you can go back in and attempt to select 1080i or 1080p to see if they work... but again, being a Dynex, it is probably only a 720p TV... The PS3 is likely trying to output a 1080i or 1080p signal...which that TV doesn't support.

I have audio but no video with my HDMI connection

You may have the resolution on the PS3 set higher (say 1080p) then what your TV supports (1080i or 720p). Use the Yellow/Red/White cable that came with the PS3 to connect to the TV. Go to that input and check the resolution. Start at a lower resolution and check the HDMI input. If the TV does support 1080p, try a different/better HDMI cable.

PS3 static on screen

It sounds like you're carrying interference to your TV. Try moving you station away from any power source. Make sure your hdmi cable is away from any power as well. This may also be a ground issue. Plug your ps3 power brick into a different outlet.

My ps3 won't output 1080p properly.

it may be that your tv only supports up to 1080i instead of p. some tv makers have gotten away with saying that the 1080i is full hd. you may just want to change your settings to 1080i and see if that works instead. there is little difference that the human eye can see between the two formats as far as i know.

Playstation 3 Flickers when set to 1080P

It sucks to see ALLLLLLL these solutions, when I have the solution. Turn off DEEP COLOR in the video settings. It will immediately stop. If it doesn't, then you don't have the typical snow/flickering problem.

Ps3 reset

turn the PS3 off. hold the power button for at least 5 seconds or until you hear another beep.
This should reset all your ps3's settings.  If you have an HDMI connection, wait for a couple of seconds so that the PS3 recognizes and negotiates the right video output for your TV.

My tv shows its's geting 1080i only

1080p signal... THE MITSU. WD-65731 has a resolution of 1080p its just the res your PS3 is pumping into your screen is loaded with a little bit more pixels than you 1080p res MITSU. I suggest getting a MITSU WD-57731 since it has a 1080P/24 input. and has great clarity and HD ample for the BD of your PS3. however the differences in picture rate and quality is very small. goodluck.
