Question about Kenwood KAC-9102D Car Audio Amplifier

Kenwood 9102d wont power on

I currently have two kenwood 9102d amplifiers. I bought one of them a few days ago, and while driving the amplifier stopped working. I took at look at the amp at my next stop and the ground wire came unhooked... but when i tried to turn the amp back on i wasnt receiving any power. I hooked up the other amplifier that worked perfectly fine when i got home and everything was ok, so the problem is not with wiring or my vehicle... is there something that could have happened when the ground wire fell out? I talked to Mr Tunes (an audio store) and a professional told me that something was wrong with the power source in the amplifier. Any help would be great thx

To bridge a Kenwood KAC-9102D

Hello laurogleal,

The Kenwood KAC-9102D is a mono amp. There is no bridging. Having two sets of terminals is just a more convenient way of connecting two subwoofers. The amp is stable down to 2 ohms impedance, so it is safe to run 2 4 ohm loads in parallel.

Hope this helps.

My amp cuts out when i raise the sub gain

Then the power wires going to the amp are not heavy enough to keep power to the amp.Or other causes can be the wires going to the sub are either loose or touching.Check all wiring for tightness and wires not touching..If all that checks out then try a different size wire to positive and ground wire Hope this works for you..Have a great day

Install my Kenwood KAC-9102D in my 2006 Acura RSX Type S

You will probably need to use a Line Output Converter (LOC). They're available at virtually any shop that sells car audio.

Many times, the outputs of the OEM amplifier will have significant DC voltage on them. This could damage the input circuits on the kenwood amplifier.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Car audio

Make sure that you are running the engine every time that the stereo is playing or you'll deplete your battery's voltage. Also, make sure your alternator can supply the amount of current necessary to produce that kind of power. Amps X Volts = Watts is the formula you use to calculate this demand.

Amp goes into protection

First change the wire, and disconnect the subwoofers to check if the amplifier turn on without going in to protection mode,if the amplifier go to protection mode you gotta change the Audio amplifiers IC's because they are in short circuit. And if don't go in to protection put one speaker at a time to check if one of them are damaged.Good luck.
