Low toque and a clicking sound usually indicates a problem with the clutch, or a problem with the anvil. unfortunately with this impact driver, dewalt only sells the "mechanism" as a whole piece for $88 US.

if it is just a worn anvil then it should only cost around $18 US

Operating tips for a drill press

the drill press shaft has a taper in the end and a slot in the side The chuck you will use will have a taper in the back and the adaptor will be tapered to fit in the shaft. The slot is to put in a tapered drift to remove the chuck assembly so that larger drills with tapered shanks can be used. Most twist drills stop at 1/2 inch but reduced shank drills are available with 1/2 ''shank but a bit size up to say 3/4'' After that you will need taper shank drills.. If the drill shaft has a hole from top to bottom you can use special router bits that allow for ma threaded rod to hold them in during milling otherwise the chuck will vibrate and come loose and fall out. It is essential to select the right speed for the drill size being used and I have found that by using combination vices that allow the job to be moved in - out and side ways the jobs you can do are limited by your imagination

The tork on my drill is gone can it be fixed

You might find the gearbox module needs replacing. Think it's about 60 pound for the part alone.

I HAVE A DEWALT 991 3/8 DRILL DRIVER. THE MOTOR TURNS AND SOUNDS FINE--THE CHUCK CAN BE HELD WITH LITTLE PRESSURE AND A CLICKING SOUNDS COMES FROM IT. DO YOU THINK IT COULD BE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY? JIM

Ensure the clutch collar is turned to where the little drill bit Icon is top dead center of the drill. If this is so, and your gear selector switch is not between gears, you will need a clutch. If this is a 991 Type 1, you may be able to get away with just an output gear, which rides against the ball bearings of the clutch.
392755-00 Output Gear part #. Generally when it is that bad, you will have to remove the clutch from the transmission without taking off the chuck, because the needed resistance for that operation is simply not available.

How can I tell if the switch is bad on boxch 14.4

you can distinguish it either of these by:
1. hard to push.
2. can smell a little bit smoke from the switch due to
loosen contact.
3. Can not feel or hear a "Click" when pushing it,.
4. The drill will not totally turn.
