Replaced black ink but will not print in black epsom CX5500

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

How can I remove the print head for cleaning on a epson sx 405? thanks

Epson Status Monitor has a facility for cleaning print heads:

http://www.epson.eu/nbsp/Printers-and-All-in-Ones/Epson-Stylus-SX405/Drivers-Support?target=article&extn=.html&articleId=1702

If your prints are still streaking, try changing cartridges.

generally the print head cannot be removed on this type of printer, but if you plug the unit out and unscrew the outer casing, you will probably be able to get at the cleaning mechanism - usually a series of sponges used to wipe the printheads. the sponges may be full of ink - wear gloves! remove the sponges and clean them.

hope this helps

Brother MFC-290C not printing black

Hi,

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results.

Thank you!!

Epson Stylus C40 Plus printer cartridge replacement instructions

Hi

It sounds more like the printhead is blocked as if it either hasnt been used much or if the cartridges where taken out and the air has got to the nozzles, this would cause it to dry out and prevent the ink from flowing from the cartridge itself.

The C40 is pretty dated, so would probably cost more to repair than its worth. The S20 is about the closest match and is about £35 so might be worth looking at replacing.

Thanks

Taz

I have tried everything from head cleaning, nozzle checks, print head alignments to changing the printing setups to everything and anything I can think to help but no matter what I do, my pages keep...

I had the same problem. What you need to do is manually clean it. Take the ink cartridges out and clean the bottom of the ink loading bay with a Q-tip. Than, inside the printer, there is a black sponge that lines the area below the printing heads, take it out (gently). Clean it with water over a sink by squeezing it, but be gentle. A lot of ink should come out of the sponge. Once it is thoroughly cleaned, let it dry (I used a hairdryer than let it air dry for a little bit). Reinsert the sponge (make sure it is dry!) and ink cartridges. Do one head cleaning on the computer and now it should print like new.

Deep Cleaning an Epsom Stylus DX5050

check the black ink level may be its already used up. It needs to be replaced. Ink is consumed during cleaning. Try to replace with a new one. all in one printers does nit print if 1 ink is lacking.

Epson stylus cx3600

If you took out the sponge pad that runs left to right under the head and didn't put it back right the chances are the print head is catching on it and passing ink back and forth. Check the pas is sat correctly and clean under the print head with a light solvent cleaner like windowlene/windex liquid

Epsom stylus all in one dx7450

press 'Control' + 'P' on a page (as tho you want to print)
click 'Maintenance'
there you'll find various options to clean heads etc, that should do it. tho it does deplete your inks considerably each attempt. & you'll probably find it needs more than one clean.Good luck!
