Broken-off power connector

The yellow power connector detached from the solder points on my 4040. It is intact but I don't know what to use to reconnect it.

exact same problem for me. simple fix-open gps, 4 screw to open. solder the 4 contact points on the yellow power connector and then close unit and put back the 4 screws. it must be a bad solder like mine and broke with the vibrations when driving.

My charger plug wouldn't go all the way in and the power kept going on and off. When I push hard to plug it in the power connector broke off.

It seems this may be a defect in this unit.

Is there a trick to get the case apart. I unscrewed the 4 screws but it doesn't want to budge and don't want to force it.

I had the same problem, when I resoldered them (I only found 2), it will charge, but the connection is flakey and I have to keep moving it, so it it is not very usable.

Keyboard not powering up. Want to change the fuse/s. Don't know where fuse is located.

There probably is NOT a fuse and usual cause is problem with the adapter or the power connectors. Broken solder of the connector in the keyboard is common. Broken cords on the adapter is common as well.

Loose part at the power input point.

it comes apart take out the 4 screws in the back. you'll need something to pry the back off .start on the side with something thin to unsnap the 2 halfs then use your fingers. after openning you'll need to resolder the powerport back on with a soldering iron and new solder. 4 spots hold the powerport on. it will be stronger than before. mine worked fine after.

Magellan Maestro 4040 power connector has is loose how do I open

Remove the four very small screws from the corners of the black case. Carefully with a thin screwdriver or similar tool, pry the silver frame off the black back. This will expose the circuit board. You must also detach a small cable connecting the screen to the circuuit board.

Meastro 4040 wont charge reliably

I had the same trouble exactly. The yellow power input socket has a pin and shield connection that must be contacting the center and side of the power input plug. I opened the Magellan and found that one side of the shield contact had never been soldered to the PC board. It was only a matter of time and use, before the piece moved up and away from the outer part of the power socket. A dot of solder solved the problem. The case for the Magellan is easily opened by removing four very small screws from the four corners of the black back and then prying the silver framed screen from the back exposing the printed circuit board. I am sure this completely voids the warranty with Magellan, but they will not repair out of warranty units anyway. Be aware there is a connector from the screen that is plugged into the circuit board. This is easily pulled apart with a pair of fine needle nose pliers and replaced the same way after the repair. The soldering should be done by someone with PC board assembly experiance.

I have the Magellan Maestro 4040. The yellow power connecter has come lose/off and is inside unit. I can't seem to figure out how to open unit

You have to use small screw drivers to open unit and re-align the yellow connector. Maku sure that when all screws are undone. Pry it open carefully not to misplace or misalign any other parts. If the connectore is really broken from the connector board, we need service technician to either solder it for you or replace some parts on the connectore board itself.

Problems with Magellan Maestro? 4040 GPS power connection

Hi,

I also have the same problem - the yellow power jack has broken connections. I fixed it by soldering it back. In my unit, the connection pads under the external power jack were intact and I was able to solder the jack easily. The audio out jack nearby has also come-off the PC board, along with the pads. I am not able to re-solder these back. Since the audio jack is part of the speaker circuit I have lost the text-to-speech function!

Hope you are able to fix yours.
