DVD PLAYER NOT PLAYING DVD

UNABLE TO PLAY DVD BUT PLAYS OTHER DISCS I bought my Bose 3-2-1 11/08/02, and it worked fine until last fall when I disconnected it from an old DISH receiver. I have followed all the troubleshooting tips in the owner's guide but have not been able to get video out of the unit. I can get audio from DVD's, tv programs, and play cd's. All of my wiring is good quality and connectd correctly. I am stumped.

If everything is connected properly, you may just have a bad video circuit. Since you get audio from the DVD, you have a video circuit problem if everything is connected right and you have all setting right. Here is the bigger problem. Bose will not sell parts for their equipment to anybody unless they are a authorized service center. They tell their authorized service centers that if they catch them selling parts to anybody they will pull their authorization. I know this because ZI have worked at an authorized Bose service center.

Take it in to an authorized Bose service center and have them give you an estimate, then you can determain if it is worth fixing. They have several video IC's in them that process all the video and it is very difficult to troubleshoot them.

My bose lifestyle 48 system suddenly stopped playing new DVDs...is there a problem with the head..I bought it only in 2008

is the discs just spinning and then stopping when you put them in the drive?
there may be a chance that the lens might just needs cleaned. suggest a dvd lens cleaner but on the down side there is a strong possibility it may be a faulty lens. dvd players aren't built to last.
always clean the dvd player from dust and keep in an open space.

Sony DVD+R AccuCORE disc recorded on HP dv4-2045dx laptop notebook will not play on Bose 321 system Get disc incompatible message What can I do?

Sometimes dvd players will have problems playing certain types of recordable discs. You might need to switch from the Sony brand and try a different one. Also there are DVD+R and DVD-R types. The Bose might have issues trying to play a "+" type disc. Also make sure that the disc is being properly "finalized" by the burning software you are using so the Bose system will recognize the disc. The burning software I use is called Nero Burning Rom and it is very easy to use. It allows you to control the burning for various applications and can help with "problem discs". If you are able to play other burnable discs in the Bose and the Sony discs are the only one giving you the problems then it is probably just that brand and you will not be able to use them with your Bose. And just a note some older DVD burners can only burn "+" type discs or "-" type discs but not both. Your computer according to the specifications from HP should not have a problem burning both types as long as the drive is the original.

Try a reset buy unplugging the power cord for a minute or so before reconnecting. Also be sure you are using store-bought, region 1 discs, and not copies. If this does not work a repair may be necessary. There are no settings on the system that will prevent DVD audio from playing.

Bose 321 System

its the format of the DVD as its written.
Nothing you can do but to have the DVD re-authored.
We had this problem with out wedding video. It runs fine on my computer but not in the Bose. We asked the videographer to reauthor the DVD explaining the problem and it works now.

Non bose dvd player for bose system

In short, you can. I did it last night. My Bose 321 DVD player is junk and it's always been junk, but I love the sound sytem. Last night, after the thing gobbled it's last DVD, I went through the whole, unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in, etc. and it still wouldn't eject so I ripped the DVD tray out of the thing with a pair of pliers, recovered my DVD, and slammed the tray back in, stripping all the gears and screwing up the motor in the process.
BUT, I disconnected the video cable from my Bose and plugged it into the video out on my el-cheapo Tru-Tech $99 DVD recorder. Then I ran the audio out cables from the Tru-Tech to the Aux 1 inputs on my Bose 321.
When I want to watch a DVD now, I put the DVD in my Tru-Tech, turn on the Bose, switch it to Aux 1, and I get a great picture and the Bose sound. Best of all, I don't have to plug and unplug that sorry Bose system everytime the wind blows.
They used the absolute cheapest DVD player they could get their hands on--a Toshiba model--for all the Bose 321 older models. Every single person who bought one has had these same troubles and they've made no offer to fix them.
This was my first and last Bose because of that and I hope more people stay away from Bose until they get their act together and protect their customers. $1000 for a system that eats DVDs like M&M's is ridiculous.

DVD Problem

Call Bose and they will send you an update CD to update the firmware of the CD/DVD player. I had a problem where a few of my new movies would not play at all. They sent me an update, no more issues. If you're a registered owner, they will send update CDs frequently, be sure you're registered as well.

Toshiba SD-43HK Discs failing to load.

Sorry not a solution but experienced the same problem. The problem started off the same as you described by now my player won't play DVDs at all. Seems that the laser is faulty and it is cost prohibitive to repair (it's sold as a complete module which would be around £100). I've been advised to replace it :-(
