Always be sure the batteries are charged and suited for your device.
Check contacts of the batteries and in the battery compartment of your device. Dirty or oxidised contacts can be cleaned with a dry cloth, or a cotton swap. Never use sharp tools to clean contacts or anything in or on electronic equipment.
Always charge batteries before using it for the first time, or if you have not used it for a long period. 3 months is a very long period.
Always charge sets of batteries (2 or 4) together.
Do not use alkaline batteries unless it is absolutely necessary. In some cases, alkaline batteries may have a shorter service life than NiMH. Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended.
Never use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in electronic devices.
These batteries are only to be used in flash lights.
The light on the camera unit not being illuminated indicate this is where the problem lies.
Ensure that the camera unit is plugged in and press the power button on the camera unit. If the camera unit does not switch on this is what has failed and you require a replacement - please contact your retailer. If the camera unit switches on and the parent unit is unable to establish a connection follow the instructions in the user manual to add a camera.
I had the same problem, have just spoken to BT (helpline is 0808 1006554) and they advised this is how you re-link the base and parent unit. 1. Switch both units off 2. On the base unit press volume up (+) while turning on the unit. The word "registration" should appear on the display. 3. Then on the parent unit, press the power on and then as soon as all the lights come on, take your finger off the power button and press the volume up (^). The word "registration" should appear on the display and then the units should link. It's a bit of a fiddle getting the parent unit to re-register and they both need to say "registration" at the same time, but we got it after several attempts, and now they are working fine.
You can't. I just called Philips and apparently if the parent monitor stops working for whatever reason after the warranty has expired, there is no way to send them off to be repaired and no way to purchase a separate parent model. You are STUCK with buying the whole package again. I have a perfectly good base, but the parent model got into the hands of the child and no longer works. The parent units have to be sold with the base. These parent units are so vulnerable; can't believe there is no way to purchase a replacement. No happy with Philips.
• Had exactly the same problem but this worked. Never even realised there was a button on the top of the unit!!! It looks like a little LED at the base of the hoop. Happy monitoring.
CONNECTING THE PARENTS UNIT TO THE NURSERY UNIT: If you lose the connection between the 2 units, turn them both off. Turn ON the parents unit and press and hold the MENU button ,the "out of range"indicator will flash and you will hear a beep.Turn ON the nursery unit and press and hold the top button of the nursery unit to reconnect. The Tic light flashes. This normally happens within a few seconds and you will hear a bleep to confirm it. If successful, the parents unit display will first show the channel of transmission (C1 to C8), which will be replaced by the room temperature and icons for all activated functions. Note : The connecting process should be done within 30 seconds. If longer, the operation will be ignored and you will have to start over. • PAGING: If you want to locate the parents unit, press the top button of the nursery unit.
I just fixed my unit that had this same problem. You have to re-pair the two units... Turn the parent unit off. Hold the "volume down" button while you turn the parent unit back on. The unit should beep and flash all volume lights. Release the volume button and the press again for ~2 seconds. The volume lights will light up and stay on. Next, turn the nursery unit off and then back on. This should re-pair the two. I hope it fixes your problem!
The units aren't paired. Call Graco at 800-345-4109 to have them walk you through pairing it. I'll try to explain what they just walked me through:
-Turn off all units. Make sure nursery and 1st parent unit is plugged directly into wall.
-Hold negative volume down on 1st parent unit. Keep holding it down.
-Press on button on 1st parent unit and let go.
-When you hear a beep, let go of negative volume button on 1st parent unit and then press it again.
-When you hear the second beep, let go of the negative volume button.
-If you have done it correctly, the 1st parent unit should have one red light at the bottom and the rest of the lights should be green.
-Turn on nursery unit and the 1st parent unit should pair with it.
-Repeat the above with the 2nd parent unit.

The picture showing looks like the AC201 which has a hard switch for the channel selection, but you describe a menu screen which sounds like the AC401 or similar. If it is the AC201 - ensure both units are on the same channel. If it is the AC401 or other unit where there is an LCD, then try the following:
