Suddenly it doesn`t focus

I was taking photos on the bowling and everything was working O.K.. Suddenly the camera wasn`t able to focus anymore. The rectangle at the screen centre stay on red, instead of turning into green and focus. I tried to change the focus set to infinity or to macro, and then back to autofocus, but didn`t work. Please if anybody can help me. Thanks a lot in advance!! Ahhh! the camera is almost new (less than 3 months)

Re: Suddenly it doesn`t focus

Try resetting your camera. In record mode press menu. go to setup tab go up to reset press right arrow highlight reset press set. If that doesn't work Call the repairs center at 800-706-2534 and then keep choosing option 1. Tell them what's going on and that you would like to send it in for repairs. If they ask just lie and tell them you already talked to tech support. LOL

I have a similar problem in the same camera: all hardware is ok but it doesn't focus. I've taked out the focus motor and it works, and all the pieces works too, they're not damaged, in fact wth the motor out I can focus manualy the picture. So I think it could be a firmware problem, but the OLYMPUS software doesn't leave me to write the same version of firmware, and there's no new versions, so is there any way to rewrite the same version of fw????? any service program?

First off, try gently turning the focus ring on your lens while it is on auto focus mode (DO NOT force it). Sometimes a minor bump on the lens can cause the focus ring to come off the tracks. Try that and see if the lens start auto focusing again. I find that this solves the issues a lot of the time. If that doesn't give you any results then you'll need to take your lens to an authorized Canon service center for repairs. Hope this helps!

There's a diopter control near the viewfinder to adjust the viewfinder to your eye. Try adjusting that while peering into the viewfinder and try to get the focus brackets and the data at the bottom of the viewfinder into focus.

Try hooking the camera directly to your computer and extracting the photos this way.
The other solution is to try and extract them via software.

To autofocus the sensor needs a fair amount of contrast (light and dark eges) to operate. If you're trying to take a photo in a dim room of a dark colored subject for instance the focus won't lock and the camera won't take the picture. Try switching your lens to manual focus and shoot that way.

Fujifilm S5000 model, works well but have picture problems.

You want to set the focus mode to S-AF, then move the focus mode selector to the lock position.
Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Focus error show up and can't take any pictures

Had "FOCUS ERROR" appear on my Finepix S9500. The lens seemed to be stuck at the extremity of focus range. I resorted to hitting the camera on a table while turning it off (because this is when it sounded as though the focus motor was trying to move the lens back). Guess what? It worked!!!!!

It won't take the photo

Is there a memory card in the camera and has it been formatted? Did you focus on something by pressing the shutter halfway? Common photographers problem too is forgetting to remove the lens cap. Baarring anything obvious, take it to a reputable camera shop, If theres nothing wrong with it, most likely they wone charge you anything.
