If you have the driver disk that was distributed with the card , try reinstalling the card drivers first.

If the card is faulty, buy a new pci ethernet adapter and replace it, inserting the ethernet adapter into the pci slot.

After installing install drivers for the new card with the disk that will come with the card.

Ensure that you are logged in as administrator when you reinstall the drivers.

I need to know whether the ethernet card for the Optiplex GX 240 is integrated in the motherboard or it is a card in itself. Thank you.

Pretty much every computer built within the last 5 years has built on network interface. However, to answer your question completely - look at the back of the computer where the network cable plugs in? Is it clustered around the video/sound, power, printer, usb, etc (integrated in); or is it located elsewhere (perhaps in the series of long narrow rectangular openings openings where the expansion cards go - separate).

Hope this helps.

The network adapter Realtek RTL8168/8111 Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) is experiencing driver or hardware related issues

Hi there,

If you are able to get on the Internet, you'll want to download the latest drivers. (See below). If you can't get on the Internet, you'll need to find a computer that can, then download the drivers to a disc or small flash drive.
You can get the latest drivers for your Network Card here: http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-RTL8168-8111-PCI-E-Gigabit-Ethernet-NIC/3000-2112_4-99235.html

Lan card is not detected in dell gx240

Hi, I have the same model dell.
Here is a link for the driver for your pc.

Just select networks, and you'll see one that says 3com driver.
This is the file that is needed to make the lan card work.

I had to reinstall most of the drivers on mine, as it was an old school computer that had SEVERAL viruses, and by the time I had gotten rid of al of them, about 2/3 of my operating system was gone. I had to use another computer to download a copy of xp home w/sp 3 just so i could power the darn thing back up.
Then I had to manually reinstall every driver on the computer, as well as update the bios, replace a hard drive, upgrade the ram, because they had left it with only 32 mb of ram, not even enough to boot up with.

Now I have 512mb ram, 2 hard drives, a dvd rom drive, and advd lightscribe burner.
I also opted to replace the factory ati video card with dvi output, mainly because i didn't have an adapter to work with regular vga monitors. So i put an old nvidia fx5200 pci video card in.
Now it runs like a champ!

I hope the link I provide works for you., Good luck, and have a good day.

Dell Inspiron ethernet card plug bad, either send tower to Dell for 3 weeks or replace and bypass with new ethernet card PCI, any problems with doing this?

There should not be any problem with you buying your own PCI ethernet card and install it yourself. They are not that expensive. www.newegg.com has on for only $7.99 and it will work fine in your computer. It does not need to be from Dell.

Replacing ethernet PCI card 10/100 by gibabit 1000

When you replace and install LAN card you need to install also the driver. Be sure that your onboard ethernet PCI card are disabled in BIOS. So that the new install LAN card are working.

Connected on Wireless but unable to connect on Internet

If not done allready, setup the lan IP address and default gateway in win98 Click MyComputer-ControlPanel-Network-Double Click TCP/IP Adapter for your 3com device-insert LAN info for IP Adress-subnet mask, Gateway and your Internet service providors DNS Addresses info Tab's (3x different Tabs "IP Adress" "Gateway" "DNS Configuration") IP Adress will be at least one number higher than your gateway address and not allready being used by other PC's on your network and gateway address will same as your router interface address subnet mask will be the same for all PC's on your network. For 3com and Netgear routers LAN setup is usually Gateway = 192.168.1.1 Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0 IP Adress = 192.168.1.10(choose alternate number than 10 if allready used by another PC on your network, try to use round numbers, must be a number higher than 1) Once all info is entered click OK (this may trigger a database info update message and task)now your LAN is setup and ready to talk to your network Restart PC and try browsing again. May possibly require reinstallation of the TCP/IP client (you double clicked this to setup your LAN in Win98) or reinstallation of the IIS(Internet Information Services)component found in, Add/Remove Programs-Add/Remove windows components and then try LAN setup again if this does not work first time round
