There could be a possible issue with the lan card that you have, first thing you may want to try is to update the drivers for the card and if it is still not helping, please try to uninstall and reinstall the card in the computer.

for isolation purposes you may try another card of different brand on the computer and check if it will run or not. we dont want to look at a possible IRQ resource conflict, but at least we can isolate the issue and narrow things down.

You didn't provide your router make, model, so this is a general procedure. Wired or Wireless connection? You didn't say? Shut down the computer, unplug , remove battery. Unplug the wired/wireless device,. Unplug the ISP modem, remove battery, if applicable. Verify ALL cables and connections. Replace battery in the ISP modem, plug in, wait for selftest. Plug in the wired/wireless device, wait for selftest, If wireless, try a Ethernet cable to verify your router is connecting to the ISP modem. I would suspect a Laptop issue.

My router is not conact to network

The first thing I would suggest doing (to ensure you have a good connection) is to bypass the router, and connect directlyto your internet connection (whether it's a DSL through your phone company, ora cable connection through your cable company, you should have an incoming cat5 (Ethernet port) connection which looks like a phone jack, but slightlylarger.tgvern_8.jpg Remove the incoming jack on your router, and plug that onedirectly into your PC's Ethernet port . That should work OK as long as you have an active connection. If not, contact your provider and inform themof the problem. Assuming that works OK, then remove it from your PC, plug itback into the router, and while you'reback there make sure any other connections are also snug (they should "click" into place). A loose wire here will cause the "networkcable unplugged" message since the connection will be incomplete. I would also suggest to "soft boot" your router and cable modem(or dsl modem, as the case may be). Simply remove the power wire to the router and modem, and leave themunplugged for a minute or two. Reconnectthem both, and reboot your PC while you're at it. This will often solve many minor problems. If you are still having trouble, or if it works for a while, then starts to misbehave again, you may have a failed or failing router. Luckily these are pretty inexpensive, andfairly easy to set up depending on your security settings, etc. You can always post a new question if youhave specific questions regarding setting up a router, etc. I recommend using DLink or Linksys routers for most customers, but your cable/DSL provider may recommend a specific model for their customers. Good Luck!

try power cycle by removing the power of the router for one minute then plug it again. check the cable if all of it tightly connected to the specified port if it is a modem router it should have a 3 cable connected to it Phone line, Ethernet cable and the power adapter. the Ethernet cable should be connect to the back of your tower( computer). check you phone for a dial tone. check the light in the router like dsl , ethernet ,internet and activity. all of these must have a light.

I have a Cayman 3347w wireless router and I am trying to use one of the wired slots to connect my xbox 360 to the internet. the xbox will not connect. is this router xbox compatable?

Please try the following steps below;

To make a router connection to Xbox LIVE:
  1. Before you connect any cables, turn off your router, modem, PC, and Xbox 360 console. (Unplug your modem from its power source to turn it off.)
  2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your modem and the other end to the Ethernet input port on the back of your router.
  3. With another Ethernet cable, connect one end to one of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.
  4. With the third Ethernet cable, connect one end to another of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox 360 console.
  5. Turn on your modem, then your router, then your PC.
  6. Make sure your PC can access the Internet. If not, you may need to configure the router for Internet access. For help configuring the router using your PC, check the instructions that came with the router.
  7. Turn on your Xbox 360 console and sign in with your profile.
  8. If this is the first time you've turned on your Xbox 360 console, see Create Your Gamer Profile to get started with both the Xbox 360 system and Xbox LIVE play.
If you're unable to connect to Xbox LIVE, you can try to diagnose the problem right on your console. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings, then select Network Settings (setup XBOX using Automatic Configuration DHCP), Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Hope this helps!

I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO PUT WHAT WIRE TO CONNECT 2 COMPUTERS

You connect the phone line to the router, then you connect ONE PC to the router via an Ethernet cable and configure router, after that you can remove that Ethernet connection and connect wirelessly.

How to instal D-link

Read the "Quick Install Guide" that came with the router.

Or, connect an Ethernet cable between your ADSL/Cable modem to the 'WAN' port on the router.

Connect another Ethernet cable between LAN port #1 on the router and your computer.

Turn the router on.

Restart your computer.

Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD and press ENTER
Type IPCONFIG and press ENTER
Look for a line like:

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 124.168.136.111

Start Internet Explorer.
Type http://124.168.136.111 and press ENTER.

Login to the router's web-interface.

Run the "Wired Setup Wizard".
Run the "Wireless Setup Wizard".

Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

Router not recognized after all wired setup is complete

Remove the CD Setup,
>If you have the Internet connection on your modem.
>Unplug the Ethernet cable at the of your computer and place it at the of the router under the Internet port.
>You should have another Ethernet port, connect the other end of that Ethernet cable to the LAN port1 and the other end to your computer.
>Access the configuration page of the router by typing 192.168.0.1 on the address bar.
>On the login page. By default the Username is admin/Admin and leave the password blank and click ok.
>Once inside, click on Setup tab> then click Manual Setup
> Your connection type should be Dynamic DHCP IP
> Click on "Clone your PC Mac Address"
> Click on save settings
> Go Status and Under WAN check if you have values in the IP address. If you have value, then that mean you have an Internet connection by now. if you got all 0.. try calling your Dlink manufacturer to assist you on conneting your router to the Internet without running the CD or by doing it manually in short..
