Question about Magic Chef CER3540 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Malfunction!!!!!!!!! This past weekend I was ceaning out my oven and I thought for some reason that I could disconnect the grill part if the oven that warms it and I unscrewed the right side and pulled softly- when I did that I heard a light poof noise- no flames or sparks- but right then at that moment I thought that it was the best time to leave it alone. I'm thinking it's a fuse and I would appreciate your help in this before I have someone come out. Thank you very much!!!!!

That poof that you heard was a shorted wire. More than likely you would not see it, but there is wires behind it.I would say you tripped a breaker or blew a fuse. Did you put the screw back in it that hold it in. If not turn off breaker before you do. Do you have breakers or fuses.

My jvm 1861 oven does not power on at all. how do i disassemble the control panel to replace the fuse

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range grille and control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The fuse should be accessible after removing only the grille, with no need to remove the controller.

According to a similar model's service manual:

"The fuse is located on the upper duct mounted to the Noise filter.
1. Disconnect power and remove grille.
2. Replace the fuse."

You can find handy exploded views and order parts by model number
here.

Both lights on the top oven work when using it as an oven but when using it as a grill, they don't! There doesn't appear to be any other fault as the oven and grill still work fine. Any thoughts...

The unit is working as it should. The top oven lights will only come on when the top oven control knob is turned on. The grill control does NOT turn the lights on. If you want to see what you are grilling, then you should turn the top oven control on to its first position. This works even if the grill is operating.

Howv do you remove plastic grill above the door on a GE 1400 spacemaker to dust of the fins

Your owner's manual should cover this, but if for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Usually you just remove the two screws on the front of the top cover of the microwave (or in the grille itself) then lift up/out on the grille, as shown in the drawings below.

There should also be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

It says:

F7 Power to magnetron interrupted

1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
2. After 40 seconds, check to see whether this solves the problem.
3. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
4. Check cooling fan operation
5. Check the magnetron.
6. Check P65 connection on the relay control board.
7. Check the P56/P66 connection between relay board and relay control board.
8. Check wiring to the 1200W inverter and control system. See “Checking Inverters.”
9. Check operation of all interlock switches.
10. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
11. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
12. Check voltage at 4903-1 on relay board. If it is 120, unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
13. Replace inverter.
14. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
15. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
16. If problem persists, unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
17. Replace relay control board.
18. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
19. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
20. If problem persists, unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
21. Check for reversed plug connection on controls or loose wiring.
22. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
23. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.

If for some reason your tech sheet is not there, you can download it here.

Jenn air microwave jmv8208bas The light bulb went out. How do I replace it?

From the service manual:

The top full-width grille is removable for service to some components, such as: humidity sensor, oven light, door removal, flame sensor, vent motor capacitor, fuse, control panel, and stirrer motor (some models).

Grille Removal

1. Disconnect power to oven.
2. Remove screws located in front on top of microwave securing grille.
3. Pull outward on the top portion of the grille releasing the tabs.
4. Reassemble in reverse order.

The oven lamp part original number is 4713−001165 but you can get it locally (generics) at hardware stores, appliance parts stores, etc. It's a common 20 watt halogen bulb.

How to install charcoal filter in ge microwave md# jvm1870 sk04

From the owner's manual, page 37:

To remove the charcoal filter, disconnect power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull
the plug.

Remove the top grille by removing the screws on top of the grille that hold it in place and sliding the
grille to the left (opening the door makes grille removal easier). Slide the filter towards the front of the oven and remove it.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can order new filters by entering your full model number here.
