You should try doing some maintence on it. Basic cleaning that will free up space and speed up your system a bit. Here is what I recommend:

  1. Download and run this program: - That will clean out all of your temporary internet files, history, etc. Along with temp. files from other programs. It also has an additional tool to clean out your registrey and fix issues concerning it. If you don't have a program that is already doing this , it should make a pretty nice diffrence on your system.
  2. Run anti-virus/anti-spyware ( - Download and run that program, there is a free version on the site , so no worries. This will rid of any pesky spyware that can be slowing your system down.
  3. Defragment the computer - Goto "Start" >> "All Programs" >> "Accessories" >> "System Tools" >>> "Disk Defragmenter" - That will clear up some space on your drive by moving files together.
  4. Run "chkdsk" - This checks your hard drive for errors , and fixes any there may be. Simply hit "Start" >> "Run" >> type "cmd" and hit "enter" >> In the black box type "chkdsk/f" and hit enter >> hit "Y" and enter >> restart computer
After doing all of this it is also a good idea to start activly backing up your computer. You never know how much your data is really worth till you lose it all! Just in case you have any system problems in the future. If you don't have full automatic backup software at the moment , give this software a shot. Not only does it backup your entire system, but it backs it up to a server so if your hard-drive crashes, your data is still intact on the server : Remote Data Backups

My hp pavillion a000 shut's it self off why

you probably have to go into control panel and change actions on how uyou want the computer to respond u can rt click the windows at the lt hand side at the Lt bottom of your screen to see how it is set up now. Can;'t remember now how to adjust the timer for shut down just play around with personal effects u will probably figure it out your self. When I remember if u haven't resolved your issue I will write back. Just a suggestion if u have issues with your pc often IYOGi is a microsoft tech Co npanie that will help with any issues including virus's unlimmited for a year .MS charges about the same amount but will only help u 4 times.
HP also and i', sure other PC tecks are about the same except for private individual s that will charge a one time fee to help u one time usually about $9 If you have a Best Buy in your area u can call the geek squad and they will help with many issues for free

If my HP Pavillion a1000n computer is really slow, does this mean i need to add memmory? I have alot of photos stored on this computer over 5 yrs.

Poor performance could be down to a number of reason's but adding memory is usually good value.
you can visit to find out what additional memory (if any) you can add to your machine and how much it will cost.
Also worth making sure your anti-virus is up to date, that you have a decent amount of free hard disk space (at least 1Gb), defrag your hard drive if possible and run a good anti-malware scan to make sure there isn't any dodgy processes hanging about....suggest downloading and running the free edition of MalwareBytes -
I hope this helps and good luck! If you have more questions - ask away!
Please take the time to rate this answer
Many Thanks K.

If pressing F11 ("system recovery") does nothing, then your disk-drive, which contains a "system recovery partition" is inaccessible,
i.e., your disk-drive has failed.

You'll need to buy a new disk-drive, install it, and use the original "System Restore" set of CD/DVD disks to reinstall Windows onto the new disk-drive.

Hi! As a first course of action please reformat your pc and install a fresh copy of windows. If it still fails or too slow and you think that the pc served you enough then its time to get a new pc. Will surely be convenient. Have a good one!

I don't it's your windows system is getting slow, what about your CPU this is old too. 1.7GHz are not quite to use anymore using windows XP2 or XP3, only SP1 can handle it.

The best ways to let your HP Computer run faster it minimize install some programs on it and install Windows Tweaker to help your windows system boost up.

Good luck!

At start up the screen is blank except for a no signal message

You might wanna try to buy a video card and hook it into a PCI port, sometimes the Integrated video modules fail but the rest of the motherboard works.

How to restart hp pavillion 7965 desktop

Hi there. Try these steps:

1. On restart, press F8. This should bring you to a screen with various boot options.

2. Select "Last known good configuration". Windows then may load correctly.

3. If this doesn;t work, try the same thing. This time select "boot in Safe Mode". If Windows now loads in Safe Mode you should be able to restart and Windows may load correctly after this.

4. If these two both fail, you may have to repair Windows...
