Projector turns off after 30 seconds.

I have a Sony VPL-CX5. After booting the projector up, the main Sony background image will display, and then the projector will squeal and then cut the image off and flash the lamp/cover light on and off. The lamp has less than 300 hours and it. I have also checked the lamp cover switch and it seems to be working properly. Also the lense cover does not close when this happens. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem I replaced the motor/lense cover unit at the cost of $AU140.00 and that fixed it.

How to reset sony projector vpl-es2 without remote control cause the panel key is lock?
Turn the projector on and leave in standby mode. To do this press the power on button for 10 seconds until the projector comes on.
To unlock the main panel keys, press the MENU button for 10 seconds.

Projector wont switch on.
if there are no leds lit on the top, then the power supply is bad (check the fuse on it first). if there are leds lit, which ones, what color, and are they flashing, and how many times? this will tell you the problem.

The image from my sony VPL-CX85 projector is turning blue first around the edges and now almost full screen. only when the image is bright (or white) you don't notice that.
I have similar problem with same projector. Did you ever find solution? Changing bulb had no effect.

How to reset lamp on sony lcd projector xga vpl-px20
Hi,
After replacing lamp, connect projector AC power cord and turn the projector in standby mode.

Press following keys on control panel for less then 5 seconds each..
RESET, <==, ==>, ENTER.
That will reset lamp timer in projector.
