Kodak 5100 EasyShare All in One

I ran out of ink.
I bought new Kodak ink.
I cleaned heads with alcohol and cuetip.
I made sure correct printer was default, and on-line.
I selected Print...it went through the motions and

Hi Miss Patti,

Regarding your issue, you shouldn't clean the printhead manually because it might damage the printhead with it. You need to clean the printhead with the printer first. Open your Home Center Software first on your computer and then click on the "?" mark icon on the top right corner of the window and then under General Links tab click on Maintenance and then choose Clean Printhead. Clean the printhead twice and then try to make some prints. If it still doesn't work, call kodak technical support so that they could replace your printhead because it might be already damage due to the manual cleaning of it. I know it will work...

I hope I helped out... Take care!

I just removed the printhead from my kodak aio 5100 printer. can i clean it myself?

Yes you can.
Just be careful to NOT touch the contacts.
Use 70% or 91% rubbing alcohol on soft paper towels to remove the ink build-up.
When cleaning the print jet area rub lightly and in the direction that the head normally moves. (not from front to back)

Ihave the easy 5100 and it has brand new ink

Did you run the Clean Print Head feature? Did you align print heads and make sure everything is aligned? There are a few tests you can do to make sure everything is lined up correctly. If you need help, try here: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/products/ekn033539.jhtml?pq-path=9098

Check color ink always blinks and does not allow to do any job.

Make sure that you installed the correct ink. It is not enough for it to fit, the numbers on the cartridge have to match those on the cartridges you replaced. You may also have problems with off brand ink that claims to work. Use Kodak ink. Also, many of the Kodak have the ink jet nozzle on the printer, not the cartridge. You can try cleaning in and around the cartridge casing, especially on the copper areas, with an alcohol swab. Then run the cleaning utility on the printer 2 or 3 times.

I have a kodakprinter and the ink has dried up on the printer head. i have ran clean printer head many times.is there any way to clean this or do ihave to buy a new printer.

Usually soaking it in alcohol works, the regular kind you get in a bottle in the drug store. Either use a q-tip or paper towel soaked in alcohol to dissolve the ink so it can be wiped off. As well, be sure the brass contacts are clean - alcohol is also recommended for that - be careful not to touch the contacts with fingers.

Printer will print pictures, but won't print documents.

Sometimes this happens because the ink dries in the print head. If multiple cleaning doesn't improve it you can try cleaning the print head itself with alcohol or an electronic spay can type cleaner. This should fix the problem for you. Also resetting the cartridges in the slots sometimes improves the ink flow.

Print head

Check that all, printhead and ink are seated and contacts are correct.

Power down the printer and allow for a complete power on and self test.
