Question about Computers & Internet

Monitor communication This morning after I updated the RAM in my dx2200 I turned it on. It came on fine but the monitor was not receiving a signal. I tested the computer with a different monitor and it did not receive signal either. I tested both monitors with a different computer and they work fine. As far as I can tell without a monitor the computer is work OK. Is this an issue with the motherboard or something that can be repaired? These items were working fine yesterday and have been for at least 8 months.

Either the RAM is not fitted properly in the socket or the RAM is faulty.in any of the case it wont give you the display on the monitor.try refitting the RAM properly or replace RAM.

Monitor usually work fine without too uch porblem. but when it goes, it goes.
in your case. I suspect the video card may have pop out of the socket.
I don't see any other things can go wrong. I assume you change the RAM only and didn't touch anything else in the box.

turn off the machine. and reseat all or the device card.

Hi, Remove all ram from the computer, try starting it up, it will beep. Turn the computer off. Add the original ram. and try to start up again. You should get picture.
After this you can try adding the extra ram. If it doesn't work repeat what I told you and then possibly replace the ram you have bought if the problem doesn't go away after a few tries.

Worked fine last night, discovered it this morning still turned on but no signal to monitor. Rebooted and it began a consistent beeping with no signal to monitor. Unplugged several times to no avail....

the beeping is coming from the cpu.

1 unplug pc
2 pull out ram chips
3 use an eraser to clean the gold, yes thats gold

what happens is the gold on the ram oxidizes and does not connect properly and can go bad but cleaning it with an eraser sometimes works. take a cpu that is working unplu it pull the ram and you will see the same thing your other pc is doing.

4 reinstall ram (correctly)
5 boot up cpu

My monitor does not light up but just clicks

if ur monitor is not coming up... check uplugging the monitor cable from the tower.... if u receive a msg on screen "No input signal" or "No VGA Signal" then Monitor is working fine... if not received monitor is not working properly.

if Monitor working... open the tower and remove memory (RAM) and switch on the pc... u should get beep codes.. if u dint get it.... Motherboard gone bad....else... try inserting RAM in other slot... even then its not lighting up...RAM problem or RAM solt problem..

No signal from computer to monitor 8/13/08!

I had the exact same problem!! Drove me crazy for days. Couldn't find any answers online, contacted Gateway tech support and they told me my warranty was expired but they'd be happy to discuss my issue for $2 per minute. Gateway can **** it!!

At first I thought the problem might be a malfunctioning NVIDIA card, a problem with my DVI cable, or the monitor itself. But, after turning off the computer, unplugging the DVI cable, replugging the DVI cable and restarting the computer, I noticed I could get the firmware flash screen to show, including the BIOS menu boot and the Gateway system reinstall screen to show. As soon as the Windows flash logo would display, however, the monitor would drop out and display the dreaded "No Signal" error.
This indicated the problem was a software one and not hardware! The cable, monitor and video card were all working fine. Then I remembered that Windows installed its automatic update a few days prior. In fact...

THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A WINDOWS UPDATE INSTALLED A FEW DAYS PRIOR.

After succesfully booting into safe mode (F8 during the flash/bootup screens), I went to Add or Remove programs in the control panel, clicked on the "Show Updates" box on the top, and uninstalled the Windows update from a few days prior to the occurance of the error. After a reboot the problem was solved.

I hope this will help anybody else struggling with this error!
