Question about Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer

Photos too red

My printer has always produced beautiful photos - until now. All my photos are coming out really, really dark and with a very red cast. I have done all the proper maintenance and replaced all the ink cartridges - still awful. The pictures don't look like anything on my screen (I have tried both scanned pictures and those from a cd).

You need to hold the resume button until the green light flashes twice and release. It will print the nozzle check, look and see if all colors are printed, if not you need to run a couple cleaning cycles. Also make sure that photo magenta and photo cyan are in the proper places and not where the regular colors go and vice-versa.

Photos all have a greenish cast; even black and white

this is because of the cartridges, in CMYK one clolor is gone. so you better replace the cartridges.

Bad yellow cast to photos when printed

If you have a yellow cast to your photos, the problem might not be your printer. If you're using a digital camera, indoors under incandescent lighting without a flash your pictures will look yellow.
If this is the case, set your camera's White Balance to Incandescent lighting or use the flash. If all of your pictures, even those taken in daylight, look yellow you'll have to adjust the colors on your printer using the "toolbox" software that comes with it and back the yellow off. I've found that HP printers tend to have better color rendition than Canon.

Yellow is a greenish color

Try printing this test pattern. I got this from this other website. But as ridiculous as I may sound, did you put the yellow cartridge into the Cyan compartment? Because to produce green you need to combine yellow and cyan. This test pattern will tell you which colors are not working properly. Then we can trace which cartridge is the problem or not. Let me know the colors that come out.27dfd86.jpg

Very dark photos

I have same problem, but it wasnt always like this. The first year I had the printer it was fine. We didnt use it for a while and now all images are very dark. The only thing that has changed is all the other photo management software that was installed with new cameras and accessories. I removed all the "Film Factory" , "Corel Photo Manager 6", and ancillary software, reinstalled the R300 drivers, and still getting dark images. I also played around with the printer settings regarding paper type, color management, and gamma with little to no effect.
