Question about Minolta Maxxum STsi QD 35mm SLR Camera

1 Answer

Can't switch to autofocus.

I have a Maxxum Stsi. It was working fine yesterday, but now it's stuck on manual focus. "M FOCUS" appears in the window and pressing the AF/M button will not change it. Any suggestions before I send it out for service??

Re: Can't switch to autofocus.

The autofocus motor is probably worn-out -- a common problem. Most shops can rebuild the brushes in the motor, since parts are no longer available from Minolta.

I can't get my camera out of auto focus

Did you push down the lever on the side of mirror box to switch it to manual focus? If so and it is still not going into manual focus, then the switch may be damaged (bent switch contacts etc.). You can check the switch by removing the bottom and front covers. Beware of loose parts!

Hi I cannot get my F80 to autofocus. I have tried all my lenses on my Brothers F80 and they all work fine on his camera. I only bought the camera second hand a few days ago and i'm 99% sure when the...

If the gears are stripped, it will require an experienced tech to repair.

That being said, there should be a small switch near the lens mount to switch between auto and manual focus mode's, be sure that that switch is pointing to A. When set to M, the little screw recesses into the mount so it doesn't try to engage, when set to A, it'll extend very slightly.

Also, Nikon has manufactured two types of AF lenses - with the motor in the body and with the motor in the lens, as with most newer lenses. Your camera should have a small screw on the lens mount that drives the focus motor between the lens and the camera, but I'm not 100% certain on that. Your camera can focus lenses with and without this type of coupling. BUT, if that screw/motor in the body is not functioning, you'll only be able to use lenses which contain the focus motor inside them, or manual focus lenses (you can manually focus AF lenses too).

Is it possible to manually control the focus on this camera? (Konica Minolta Maxxum 400si SLR 35mm Film Camera) I need to be able to manually control the focus, apeture, and shutter speed for a film...

The description of the manual focus is available in part 2 of the manual, page 40. The manual is available as a PDF here: . It is the seventh camera in the SI series in the list.

To manually focus the lens, press the focus-mode button on the front of the camera (bottom left when you are behind the camera) until M. focus appears in the data panel. If you have an AF lens, turn the focusing ring until the subject appears sharp. If you have an xi-Series or AF Power Zoom lens, pull and turn the lens control ring.

The focus indicator will light when the subject is in focus. To return to autofocus mode, press the focus-mode button again. The camera will also return to the autofocus mode if you press the program reset button.

I hope this helps.

(in manual focus, you can take a picture even if the subject in the focus frame is not in focus. Often it means you need to take multiple pictures to get a good shot of the subject. The advantage is that you can get some interesting shots.)

You push the button and it will not take a picture. I put new batteries in it and it still will not take a picture.

My HTsi Plus never seems to be able to Auto Focus on a subject, so when you push the shutter button half-way, it just flashes the focus indicator (telling you it is unable to focus). Try switching over to the "Manual Focus" mode. On the front of the camera there is a button labeled "AF/M". Push that button to switch to manual focus. If the camera is in manual focus, the external LCD screen will say "M.Focus". Now try to snap a shot. If that still does not work, there may be something wrong with the camera or the lens. So, try using a different lens in manual focus mode. If it still does not work, then I would say the problem is with the camera itself.

Can't get the camera to auto focus in dim light

you can maybe set the camera to manual focus, or override the autofocus so that you can take the picture.

Minolta STsi

Maybe it's set on the panoramic mode. On the left hand side right under where the strap thingy is there's a switch that says P ( panoramic ) and STD (standard ). Just switch it to the other mode.

Hope this helps.

Is there a micro focus switch on the lens
On my lens if switch to Micro Mode the Auto focus is disabled, Also it is a stupid question but you are using a AF lens and not a xi series or manual focus lens.
