Question about Acer AL1917W LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Acer AL1917 Monitor does not start up immediately.

Recently my monitor does not go on immediately after I bootup my computer. The off on switch flickers green intermittently and the screen remains blank. After 15 minutes or so the monitor lights up and works fine. Each day it is getting progressivley worse and taking longer. Today I thought it would never come on but it did after a half hour or so. It seems like you cant even turn off the off-on button. It doesn't respond.

When I put the computer into sleep mode the off-on switch turns amber. Start it up and its back to the same problem.
Any ideas?

You'll need to have your power board -inverter redone.
The capacitors are starting to fail and that eventually will stop it all together.
I repair many monitors through ebay with these types of problems.
If you take it apart and send me a picture, I can usually see the problem areas.

The hardest part is taking the front trim off of the backing.

Are you in the US or out of the country? I do repair these and sometimes shipping is cheaper than the local repair shops !!

Dual Monitors. #1 works fine. Plug inb #2 and #1 goes to sceeen saver and #2 stays blank.

Both monitors must be plugged in when the computer is started for the second monitor to be detected, and you must configure the second monitor once the computer has started
In windows XP: control panel -> display -> settings tab -> select second display -> check "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" -> click apply
In windows vista/7: control panel -> adjust screen resolution -> select second display and then under "multiple displays" select "Extend desktop to this display"

It is typical these days how the monitors are put together. I use falt blade screw driver the separate the front and the back, starting at the bottom edge and work your way around.

The monitor drive is only for allowing the resolution and some color adjustment that the OS may not have, the scrolling problem more like to be the PC mouse or setting problem.

I need to know how to remove the footstand from my acer al1917 monitor pleas.

The wide black cover that seems to be part of the monitor on the back is in fact removable. Put your fingers/nails on the small gap on the underside and pull. There is some resistance but it is not too hard. Then you find 4 screws. Unscrew and voilà ... fixed!

Check to make sure the cables are connected tightly. Wiggle the cable, does it get better or worse? Might need a new cable. And reseat the video card inside the computer. If that doesn't fix it, then yes you will probably need a new monitor.

Acer Monitor AL1917 W

Yes.
When you unplug the data cable from the PC, you should usually get a 'no signal' message from the screen itself.

Other LCDs (like in this case), you have to plug it in and turn it one slightly before your PC goes on, so it can auto-adjust to the resolution your PC has.
