I am trying to replace the ballast in my Samsung TV. I have purchased the ballast and I can see the old ballast but I can not figure out how to remove it. If I could get it out I am sure I could get the new one installed. The model number of the set is HLS5086WX/XAA. Thank you.
The ballast should come out fairly easy---at the end of the 2 red wires where it connects to the lamp should be a single screw and the lamp has to be already removed---with the screw at the wire end removed the socket lifts up and to one side and the actual ballast is secured with no more than 4 screws and has only one or two small plugs to remove
You might also check You Tube to see if they have video instructions there for your model.

SOURCE: Which Replacement Power Board for LNT4665F Samsung LCD TV?
Howdy,
It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.
Thaks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.
