Question about RCA P46924 46" Rear Projection Television
Sorry, I couldn't find any models like mine. Turned the TV on, the picture was on ok, went away for a few minutes and when came back TV was in "stand by" and there was a burning smell from inside. Brought it back on, but no picture at all but has a white background with lots of horizental lines. The sound is ok. I am worried if the tuble has gone. (I know nothing about electronics by the way).
The fact that you smell something burning tell Us a part is cooked, sometimes is easier to find them because you can see they are degraded, this things happen for no reason but I dont think is the picture tubes that went bad,by the description it might be something simple,if the picture quality was good before is likely worth repairing it.The repair will involve removing the defective part and then soldering in the new one,be safe and call for assistance from a servicer at least for an estimate.
