Hi there.im not familiar wih the model, but your fault lies in the east west correction circuit.excessive width usually means a short circuit e/w modulator diode, with the curved sides.normally,a narrow picture with curved sides points do dry jointed/open circuit polyester capacitor.if a firm slap has an effect, then its most likely a dry joint which makes for an easy life.the vast majority of east west correction circuits are based in tle line output stage, and generally not complex to fix.hope this helps,regads,steve.ps. look for s/c by 299 and by 228 diodes, check those..

Circuit City ''esa'' TV picture curves in on sides

Curving in on ( hour glassing ) the sides is usually the indication of a bad regulator IC. Since it occured after a move, you may also have a bad solder connection or smal crak in the board. To check for cracks ( assuming you have unplugged the power and are relatively comfortable doing so) shine a flashligt from the top of the board ( with the components on it ) and examine the bottom of the board. If a trace is broken you can often see it this way

TV shut off

The set is going into shutdown, there are a few reasons why the circuit is being activated, excessive high voltage, excessive volts supply(poor regulation)no screen voltage or a secondary supply is missing,if you are familiar with tv service you have a few places to check, you will need a volt meter and a soldering iron and the squematic diagram to locate the different circuits mentioned,if you are not too familiar seek the assistance of a servicer.Let Us know if you need more information.

Pincushion??

There is a pincussion correction circuit in this RCA TV set that does have problems from time to time. Its in the horizontal High voltage sweep circuit and should only be worked on by a trained tech as there is alot of High ZVoltage there. In this set there is no user replaceable parts inside, as everything is soldered into place. It could be in your case a pincussion correction driver transistor or the coupling capacitor or capacitors that need to be replaced. if your not trained in the high voltage circuits , for your safety, please call in a local repair person to assist you in this repair.
