Question about Ace Hardware InSinkErator Badger 5, 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal

Badger 5 EX 3/4 Hp In sink Erator

My garbage disposal was poorly installed. It has been slowly leaking for some time. It finally gave way the other day, leaving me with no use of the kitchen sink until I reinstall it.
It functions fine so I don't need a new one, but the metal rings that attach to one another were encrusted with junk. (Months of slow leaking I suspect) I have removed as much as possible with scraping and use of lime away to clean up the surfaces....
Now what? I am unsure of how to reattach. Also is there particular adhesive or chaulking to better seal it?
any other wise knowledge advise. welcomed

The disposal is attache to the button of th sink by means of ring and clamps.
take a look how th ekitchen sink is mounted. the disposal is mounted the same way. you may need to get new rubber seal and a new plate for the buttom, where the screws is. you can take the ring to the near home center of plumbing store, and get a replacement.

you can use "plumber's putty", or " goop" .thing else will keep the water out.

Thier is an Allen key hole at the very bottom and center of the badger. Try using that with an Allen key. And if it leaks your from where your wires are coming out of your seal is probably bad. Means new badger

Disposal is rusted out and needs to be replaced.
If you plug the hole, the motor compartment will fill with water and short out the electric.

You have to take it apart and re-apply plumber's putty ... some specialize sink materials require different type of sealer, but stainless and porcelain use regular plumbers putty from hardware or home center.

Why is my badger .5 plus in sink erator leaking

One of your connections is either broken or missing a rubber gasket or a hose clamp. You have a lock ring on the top that basically bolts to the drain of the sink which is part of the disposal, IT has a rubber gasket or two on it, some have plumbers putty on the very top, the hose that goes from the dishwasher, if you have one, has a hose clamp on it, the drain line into the trap is a compression fit, needs to be tight, and it is usually bolted or screwed into the disposal itself with a rubber gasket. Check these out and tighten them up. Hope this helps.

Water leaking by discharge tube

All you need to do is tighten the two screws on the discharge pipe (right on the side of disposal.) There is a gasket that needs tightening under the pipe fitting.

In sink erator is leaking from bottom

I had this happen right before my disposal stopped working completely. Mine was leaking from the same place. The one I had was a 2 year Badger. They are easy to replace. If yours still works I would keep using it and just sit a pan down below to catch water. A new Badger 1 year cost $80 at Home Depot. If you get one, do not worry about buying extra gaskets or the black sink strainer thing because the new one will come with everything needed except for the plumbers putty. You will need plumbers putty. Good Luck
