Try downloading the Touchpad drivers, then you will have that option.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Dell Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.

You can disable the touchpad once you have the touchpad driver installed. Most times when it installs the touchpad will be at the bottom right near the time. you should also be able to get to it in the Control Panel.

Disable Dell Vostro 1540 Touchpad

Your problem could be that you don't have the driver installed.
Go to the dell site and then search for the Alps Alps TouchPad driver for Vostro 1540. Downlond and install. Restart your laptop and you should see an icon in the icon tray for the touchpad, you can click on that to disable it or use the shortcut key fn + f3.
Hope that helps.

Toshiba u505 cursor jumps to other line when typing n

Hi.
Based on the information you have provided, it seems that the issue might be due to the Touchpad "Tapping feature".
This issue usually occurs when the Touchpad Tapping feature is enabled.
You may disable this option by following the steps mentioned below:
1) Click on the "Windows" logo icon. 2) Then, type "mouse" in the search option. 3) Click on the Mouse options which should be mentioned on the search list. 4) Once you have the Mouse options window open, click on the "Device Settings" tab. 5) Then, click on the "Settings" tab. 6) This will open the "Touchpad settings" window. 7) In this window, check for the "Tapping" option. 8) Once you have found that, disable that. 9) By doing this, you will disable the Touchpad tapping feature.
Hope this helps.
Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

How do I disable the touch pad mouse

How to Disable aMouse Pad on an Asus Notebook

Touchpads are fairly standard equipment on laptops these days, in lieu of theolder "eraser-head" track buttons. Because laptops are typically notused in locations that are conducive to using a full- mouse, touchpads areused instead to allow the user to move the mouse pointer with a finger.Occasionally however, you may find yourself wanting to disable thetouchpad---perhaps while you are typing so that accidentally brushing thetouchpad does not reposition the typing cursor. Somewhat ironically, in orderto disable an ASUS laptop's touchpad, you first need to fully enable thetouchpad's software by installing the correct drivers onto your computer.

I want to disable the touchpad on the acer aspire 5532 but cannot seem to do it please can you advise

You can disable it by doing one of these 2 steps:
1.If you want to uninstall the driver "FOR EVER" you can uninstall it from the device manager page from the search toolbar.
All the steps are down to see where is the uninstall button.
I prefer to backup driver using the free driver updater and backup DriverMax.

2. If you want just DISABLE it do the following:
Search for device manager
Click on Mice and other pointing devices tree,
there would be a touchpad driver usually its Synaptics
Disable it by clicking right click and then Driver tab and then disable button, you may see the disable button disabled, that is because you don't have another mouse instead of your touchpad, install your mouse drivers then you may can disable it.
