MFC 210c Unable to Print Use Troubleshouting and routine maintenance chapter in Users Manual

My color has not worked well in the past few months. Now I get the message Unable to Print, Use Troubleshooting and rountine maintenance chapter in user's manual. I've tried everything it told me. I've removed all ink cartridges and left them upright (they are ALL brand new) and cleaned all the ink ports. I've cleaned the machine several times. It's told me there's no ink cartrige, I've replaced them, turned the machine off and on, unlplugged, etc. Then go to print and I get the same message again and it won't print. The machine is almost 2 years old and has worked fine until about 6 months ago when the magenta stopped working all together. Now this. Any help? Thanks.

I could not find any help in getting this fixed so I went out and purchased a new printer... got another Brother because I really liked this last one. I got the MFC 290C. Hopefully it will work for a long time. My 210 worked well for about 2 years.

I have a similar problem. It says unable to print and then it says refer to troubleshooting in the manual. In the manual, it says to unplug it for a few minutes and then back on. I did that and it didn't work. Who can help with this? What to do?

Same problem. Replaced cartridges. Get error message unable to print.See Troubleshooting in manual. Went through same ritual of unplugging, resetting/stating, but nothing. I noticed the machine does not go through the cleaning cycle either.

I had problems with my MCF 420CN in the past and I've found the best solution is to buy a new one from the Brother web store. The cost of a new machine is cheaper than buying a new set of ink cartridges. When the new machine arrives, I first use the cartridges from the broken machine and save the new ones as replacements for later use. Bottem line- new machine $49.99 versus cost of 4 ink cartrides $52

I called the tech support and they we looked at the last error.
(The sequence to do this is you click "Menu", the "Black Start" button, and 0 within 3 seconds.
When you do this, 3 lights blink together. You press 9 and see the last error message.)
My last error message was "Error 41". The tech support said this indicates a mechanical problem.
A google search revealed that others had this problem and they talk about "cleaning the printhead".
However, their solution is for 5100 and may fit also to 3100 but not my machine (MFC 210-C).
I could not follow their directions.
I don't know what to do.

The cost is not the only factor for me.
I need the Brother MFC 210C. It is smaller and fits my shelf.
The other models are bigger (the depth is longer) and usually they occupy
more vertical space, which is a huge problem for me because I can't open the
scanner cover in between my 2 shelves.
Therefore, I concluded that it is better for me to stick to Brother MFC 210C if I can.

I found a website which offers a repair kit for Error 41 for $8.95 and $5.95 shipping.
It ishttp://officestoredepot.com/ but there is a bad report filed for them
    athttp://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/31...
However, the website seems to have resolved this issue; therefore, I decided to give it a shot.
Maybe, they are doing good business and their solution will be helpful.
If I have the time and the chance, I will try to let you know how that goes.

Thanks and have a good day...

    Follow-up on OfficeStoreDepot solution:

Hi, it arrived after paying $8-9 + $5 shipping. However, step 3 instructs to lift the gray lever up and remove the printhead. I couldn't see a gray lever on my MFC-210C and have no idea how to remove it. I sent them and email to ask how with pictures.

So, if you have the same problem, I guess, for the moment, you may want to wait before you buy the OfficeStoreDepot solution. Because there seems to be an issue with the instructions.

My brother dcp145c will not print a document the printer window is telling me, print unable 70 see troubleshooting and routine maintenance chapter in user's guide

It wants you to refer to the users guide, it even gives the chapter which is excellent. Go to the Brother website and downlaod the manual for this printer. Or you may have one in your possession already, it would have come with your printer.

It most likely want you to replace the waste ink sponges or reinstall the ink cartridges.

Don't worry though it will all be explained in the manual.

Till next time!
Take care!

Try running a purge count through the maintenance menu. You can enter maintenance mode by pressing: Menu> * 2 8 6 4 Press 8 0 Scroll down to purge count value. You should get there after pressing the down key 24 times. Press 2 7 8 3 to reset the purge count. The printer will then restart. Then try printing again.

Brother MFC 210C with error code 4F

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds.
This should put you in the maintenance mode menu.
Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key.
You'll find an entry listed as purge count.
If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.

This will reset the purge count value. Then restart your printer and it should work just fine !

Will not print

I have the same error message “Check the Troubleshooting and Routine Maintenance Chapter in User's Guide" I called customer service for "BROTHER 1-800-284-4329 USA; 1-877-BROTHER for CANADA. The Tech’s and I performed a series of diagnostic test, via the phone but were unable to solve the problem... Brother seem to believe that I have a defected printer head, Brother referred me to a local authorize service agent for Brother. I do have my User's Guide and there is no additional information that I was able to use to resolve this problem. HOW EVER, I am able to get the machine to print by opening the cover and close it as if I had installed ink, or removed a paper jam “SIMPLY OPEN AND CLOSE THE COVER”. I also vacuumed and blew the insides and the outside buttons of the machine with forced air from my vacuum, after all that I still have the same problem. My solution...buy a new machine mine is 32 months old and I probably have ran 15k or more print, fax, and copy jobs.
Some times we need to know when to move on, TIME IS MONEY AND TIME WASTED IS UN-REFUNDABLE.
GOOD LUCK
