How to get channels on T.V. with NO Cable!

If you hook up an antenna you get all the channels within reception. A high power antenna will get you further away stations. You may need to preamp the antenna before sending it to your tv.

How to hook up the antenna

If you are not using cable or Sat. TV, you need a DIGITAL outdoor antenna, preferably outdoors for better reception. Forget the garbage indoor window or set top systems as they will not pull in a good signal, unless you are near the TV Stations transmitters. Cosco or WalMart has TV Outdoor systems.

Television Troubleshooting

reception
1. check your antenna hook up. Make sure the cable is tight. If your antenna is old, you may have to buy a new one. Also check the cable connection to the antenna, that it is tight. You might want to check take the cable off the antenna and see if it is clean from weather wear. If the antenna is inside you might try moving it outside and to a higher position.

2. if you have cable you need to contact their customer support and ask them to check their transmission to you. They can tell if the reception is getting to their box. They may offer to come out to your house to check the connections inside and check the box. Before they do that, ask what it will cost. I did not ask that question and they charged me $60 and only replaced the cable hooked to the box which I could have done.

3. There are antenna's you can buy that will work inside the house. I have one that picks up stations that are 30 miles away. The stations that far away are not always on or good but my point is that the local stations come in very good and clear.

CANT GET AM ON MY RADIO. HELP!

AM reception depends on orientation of the radio. Take the radio from its handle (top side up) and rotate it until you find the best signal. If it has Automatic Tuning, take the radio outside, find the best direction and initiate the ATS. Once the stations are recorded in memory, tune to one radio and listen. If that reception is poor rotate the radio without changing the frequency on the dial.

Poor reception or unable to receive certain tv channels on sets not connected to dish or cable - what is the solution?

I would assume that your using digital converter boxes for the sets that are not hooked up to cable? Do you have digital antennas? The old analog style will work but reception will not be so good. You can find digital antennas almost any major department stores. The boxes are still available at some locations. Since the broadcasting has gone digital for regular channels, analog tvs will no longer recieve stations with out a digital converter box. I hope this helps.

Kdl-37w55/57 sony bravia problem is every so often the picture seems to stutter, delay best way to describe it. Any ideas

hello, try tightening your antenna connection this happens when your signal input cable is fualty or loose check that first. then try all other connection that come from your cable, sat reciever or antenna hook up. if your using a digital reception device or digital antenna check those connections to. and be aware that digital reception has interuptions and they depend on the distance between you and the digital signal broadcast station, sometimes storms and atmospheric conditions may cuase a brief lapse in the signal.(stutter) what are you using for a reception? satelite, cable or a digital antenna? hope this helps

Off air antenna hook up

You probably have to set the tv to run on the input jacks your antenna is plugged in to. In other words these newer tv's have 2 or 3 inputs and they only run on the input it is set on, if not the right one you must change the setting. On mine there is a button next to the on/off button on the set which is inputs, keep pressing that button and it cycles through inputs till you get the right one. When tv first comes on it flashes the name of the current input on the screen--think they all do that. If input is hdmi, it refers to the hdmi socket, if composit (I think) then it refers to the rca jacks that are red, white, yellow, may be more than one of either. In this way you could have cable on one input, a video player on another, and cable on still another by switching desired input. I use a UHF antenna but it didn't work till I got the right input and then searched for stations studying the menu for station setup, have to set up the stations first, it will configure settings for each station, and have it do that before you can expect to find and receive stations. With correct input you should get a blue screen or something with printing if input is right, click your menu button and will see the menu and then find where to configure stations setup, otherwise it is totally black and nothing happens, nothing responds, that's the wrong input.

Cable station reception

Is the cable you are connecting working? That is, does it have a cable signal on it? It may be defective, or disconnected at some point (at a splitter in another room, for instance). Try the TV at a cable you know is working to verify the set, then figure out where the problem is with the cable.
