There is a "PB Control" button. I had the same problem. You've inadvertently told it to change the speed or something on playback. Make sure that none of the indicators at the top of the screen are active (i.e., white letters on black background). Press the PB Control button to toggle it on/off. Also, any files transferred to a computer will not be affected.

Hi! As far as I can tell, there is no way to recover anything deleted off the recorder (found this out the hard way!) Best advice I can give is back it up on a hard drive asap before deletion. That way your material can be put back onto the device at a later date. It\'s a pain but it\'s saved me a few times!
I got my DR-05 a few days ago I learn something new everyday. You have to turn off your microphones to playback your recordings. Go to menu and scroll down to speaker and make sure you have it on. plus now see if your mic is off. scroll down to "other" click the fast forward. scroll down to "monitor mix", click the fast forward. Then you will see "Input" you got to turn that "off" to hear the speaker. The "input" is the sound that is coming into the microphones. You can\'t have it on when doing play back. There is a lot of little things about this, I am learning to. But once you get past these little things it\'s nice. I\'m working on different ways to record with the new quick button and limit controllers, haven\'t found much on it that\'s how I found you thought I would help while I am here.
The scroll wheel should click into place if you push on it. There are small plastic ridges around the inner hole of the scroll ring that act as clips. If these ridges are worn down, it will no longer click in. The DR-1 is a good recorder, but cheaply constructed.
I had a similar problem. What i did was to replace the tascam provided cable with another one (similar) from Iriver t30. works wonders. found out that the original cable couldnt plugged in properly to tascam although it did recharge the unit.
1. make sure you install the drivers as well
2. it will come up as mass storeage device
3. go to my computer and find the device it should have a drive letter, click on that and you should be able to copy and paste from there.
So make sure you installed the driver that came with you unit, this will shore up 90 percent of the problems, if you find this information helpful please rate accordenly, Thank You
